no heat
when im running my car and i got the heater blasted all the way .. im getting little to no heat at all .. i know its kinda cold outside right now .. but its very strange that im not getting heat .. what could be the cause of this? the only thing i know for a fact thats not connected properly is the rubber hose going between the air pump and the air intake pipe .. any help would be appreciated

Constant threat
Mine USED to be 'nuclear' but I plugged the core up with the block seal in a can trick...dammit!
Now it just is barely, barely even lukewarm. And changing the core is a bitch. As the FSM says for step one:
"REMOVE THE DASH"
**** Me!

first i would verify that the heater core is clogged. squeeze the return hose from the heater core, if there is no fluid in the line then it is clogged. if it is indeed clogged like mine was get a piece of pipe that will fit inside of a garden hose and the return hose that connects at the base of the filler neck. now disconnect the feed hose to the heater core at the firewall to the side of the ABS unit. turn on water to the hose with moderate pressure and if your lucky you will see the gunk being blown onto the firewall......... oh yeah please do this while the car is cold.........

Also, have you given the car time to warm up before concluding that there is no heat? I know it's sounds dumb to ask, but you'd be surprised.

The heater core is on the passenger side, and according to the shop manual (never had to replace one personally) the dash has to be removed.
As for the t-stat, basically if water is flowing before the car is up to "normal operating temperature" then you can guess it's stuck open. Conversely, if the car is "warm" and water is NOT flowing, then it is stuck close.
I don't know the specific temperature at which the t-stat opens off the top of my head, but I'm sure it's on this forum somewhere. The best way to test it, is to remove it and place it in hot water on the stove. But by then, you might as well just go ahead and replace it since you're already in there.

180F is the nominal stock T-stat opening temperature. It opens gradually starting around 175F and should be fully open by ~200F, IIRC.

My Heater core got plugged up right after the installation of my rebuilt motor. I'm guessing the engine sealer used is now blocking the HC. I have learned to do with out heat. Luckily it doesn't get too cold in SF

Before you get into the pain-in-the *** stuff, I cast another vote for the Quicksilver/Aces High solution.
Check your coolant level first & make sure it's burped. That is the most frequent cause of "no heat" across all car makes & it's easy to do.

I had the same problem 2 years ago.. Eventually, my car over heated from a Stuck T-Stat.. Luckily It happend in my driveway and I was able to shut it down. I would bet the farm that you are having the same problem. Change the thermostat out asap.
