no boost control??!!!

had some boost issues with my fd mainly leaks so have fixed all the leaks but now nothing seems to be limiting the boost, after a spirited drive the other day, car went like holy **** but the boost kept cutting out

this drive was only about 5mins long (after warm up)

got to where i was going and the turbo was cherry red and smoke (burning oil) was billowing from the turbo area??

any help/ideas??

cheers
will

You were probably hitting fuel cut, due to overboosting caused by a problem with your sequential system's control of the wastegate. Do not drive your car hard anymore until you diagnose and fix the problem, otherwise you will pop the engine.

Do you have a boost gauge?

think your prob right with the fuel cut, does that also when you accelarate at half throttle, do you think the problems are related

Fuel cut is boost-related. You need to get a boost gauge as one of your first mods to the car in order to help with diagnosing problems like this.

Fuel-Cut Boost Levels

This is why you need a boost gauge - if you exceed these boost levels (at least in the higher gears, where the ECU has time to react) you will get fuel cut.

If you don't have a boost gauge you won't know. "Half throttle" doesn't mean much. I can easily hit max boost on the highway at half throttle.
