NGK Power Cable

Anyone try NGK Power Cable? It suppose to have lower resistance per foot compare to regular NGK wire.

According to http://www.sparkplugs.com the regular NGK wires are $23 for a set, and the Power Cables are $92 a set. $92?!?!?! That's a HUGE gyp.

You can get Magnecors, which are some of the best built and designed wires out there, for $65 or less. I can't see the Power Cables as being worth the money.

Here is a site the spark plug wire dyno #

http://www.tprmag.com/issue/4/ngk.shtml

Seems like the resistane is less than Magnecor with high dyno HP.

Just wonder if anyone try this wire set.

The differences in horsepower are WAY too small to be significant. That can totally be attributed to differences in dyno runs - no way to make a call from that.

I'm sure they'll fit well and work just fine (NGK does make good stuff) but I don't think they're a good bang for the buck.

Shees. You're talking about 1.5% differences at the most according to that. You'll see bigger differences than that just making pulls on the same dyno with NO changes. You'd make more power by cleaning your air filter.

What those dyno numbers do prove is one thing: The friggen spark plug wires don't somehow make horsepower. Buy the stock "plain" NGK's and spend all the extra money on gas or something.

According to the Dyno sheets, the MSD's gained the most HP.

Right, so only a 1.5% gain on a pretty regular Honda...

What about on a high boost, high fuel RX-7? I'm too tired to think about it too much, but me wonders if that difference would be a lot different on a car of higher tune.

Their own dyno graphs show peak power moving all over the place by a few horsepower just as you would expect from repeated pulls. They happen to ignore all that though and just pick the highest horsepower number from a single pull and call that the magic number. Pure bologna. Anybody with half a brain would at minimum do several pulls and use then use the median as their final number but they see no need for that

...and I bet they didn't even bother to put a new set of Honda wires on, they just dynoed the old ones that had god knows how many miles on them and were happy to get a "low" horsepower number. Those so called results do a good job of "convincing" only those people who don't know any better about statistics and a controlled test environment. The horsepower findings on that page are all bunk.

^ I'm with Damon here. Unless you're running a super-juiced ignition, the only thing the premium wires serve to do is give you better protection against cutting the insulation and the wire shorting out. Which is to say they are more idiot proof
