wiring harness help
hmm ok so i was going to put my harness onto my new motor...but one plug was different?
old engine
new engine
and the connector that was supposed to go onto it broke off...so i guess my questions would be
1. why are they different? my car is a 94...and the new engine was from a 93 so could that be why?
2. since the connector broke off the harness...is it important? can i fix it? or do i need a new harness
thanks

That looks like a miata thermoswitch. To fit it, you'll need to cut off the plug on the harness and instal a connector of some sort that will fit to the pin in the center of that white plastic collar.
If you had a 2nd gen thermoswitch there instead, I believe the plugs would match. I would do that, since I cringe at the thought of cutting up a brand new harness.

Wiring harness from a mid-90s miata is one way - and you can trim the miata harness so that there is a little extra wire length when it's all done.
I simply used a narrow female blade connector (looks like Fig 2 from here: http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T053/0215-0217.pdf). I got it from a generic box-o-connectors from the auto parts store.
Are you replacing those oil metering lines also? I would - now's the perfect time. Last night I replaced the oil metering lines and was thinking what a perfect time it is to install a new engine wiring harness.
