Nexus Boost Gauge: Dissatisfied?
Nexus Boost Gauge: Dissatisfied?
Is there anyone in this forum who bought Nexus series gauges and is not satisfied with the product/ faced problems?
I purchased a boost/vacuum gauge a week back. Hooked it up and everything was working fine. However after my car stalled once, the meter isn't working anymore. The remote unit shows an error code of 4-1 (communication error). I'm pretty sure that all my connections are proper and I did recheck.
I took the electrical line from the ignition point so that the voltage doesnot drop below 9 volts during start up? or does it in our car?
I e-mailed AUTOMETER two days back, however didnt get a reply.
Since I only have time to open up everything this weekend, I just wanted to check whether anyone faced a similar problem, things would be easy for me then.
Been wondering the last two days whether I made a mistake NOT purchasing Defi.

Julian I understand what you are trying to say. However it was working fine right before the car stalled and hasnt been since. I'll get to know this weekend, once I open up everything.
I was just wondering whether what Rich (Goodfellas) said is true.......which was Autometer is the Kia of the gauge manufacturers world. I spend so much money on this product and their customer service didnt write a word back, thats whats bothering me.
I have autometer pro ultralite electronic w/ peak hold and warning gauges. It worked fine for almost a year, then one day it didn't do the start up sequence .. figured piece of ****; turned out to be my setup, just took await to hit that path of .if. than. logic. I checked setup and works fine now. But I agree you should get better CS. I have had good experience with them in the past but today is today.

All of you guys are saying its an installation problem, can any of tell me what kinda hook up you went with for your Nexus Gauge? Did you take the electrical line from the ignition point?? Its a fairly simple installation.
I'll open up the connections this weekend, will take pics this time when I do the installation again.
As of today 8/25, I havent heard anything from Autometer, have e-mailed them a few times. I opened up all the connections to recheck and everything seems to be in order. Am completely lost.
There are 3 wires, RED, YELLOW, BLACK. Black (ground), I have connected to the chassis, to be exact to one of the two nuts that hold the steering column.
The RED wire (12V) I have connected directly to the ignition system, always live, key off and on.
The YELLOW wire to the ACC wire, with key on there is power and with key off no power.
The Map sensor module is mounted on the enine bay, the vaccum line is taken from the UIM. The main autometer sensor module is inside the vehicle.
Still getting an error code 4-1.
PLEASE CAN SOMEONE CALL AUTOMETER ON MY BEHALF........my question is if the voltage in the YELLOW wire drops during the cranking of the starter is there a problem? How many volts should be there (in the line) during cranking??
TIA

Fixed
Just a little followup. I sent my unit back to Autometer and they replaced everything with new. Cory, was very helpful. Installed it and everything is fine now.
The readings are in PSI and its is easy for me to monitor.
Sorry for the crappy photos.
