Newbie needs some help!!
I am about to purchase a 93 rx7 with 71K miles on it for about $14,000. The car looks great inside and out, even the engine bay. After some research I've come to the conclusion that after 70/80k miles you should rebuild your engine. So my questions are :
Would $14,000 be paying too much for an FD with 71k miles on it?
If I purchase this car how soon would I have to rebuild the engine and whats the average price to rebuild a 13B?
Also If I purchase this car I would be buying -
1) new radiator
2) boost guage
3) downpipe
4) cat-back exhaust
5) intake
is there anything from this short mod list that I may be missing???

assuming it is a 5spd non MB, then the price is fair to slightly high. also depends on what mods the car has, how it has been taken care of, etc.
i had an fd that i sold in 2003 with 110k miles on it and was still going strong, so dont think that just because it has 70k on it it is ready for rebuild. you should get a compression test done to see how strong the engine is.
in general, the 1st reliability mods include a boost gauge (to be sure the turbos are boosting properly, and not creeping above 10psi) a downpipe (to keep the engine cool) and an aftermarket AST (stock one can split and that is bad)
radiator also would be nice, catback is more of a looks/performance mod.
with intake, catback and dpipe you'll need a boost controller to keep the boost down.

If the car was maintained properly and held at stock boost levels, there's no reason to automatically assume you'll need a rebuild, unless there's something you know about the car that you haven't mentioned. If that's the case, 14k is way too much money for it.
Some here may disagree, but IMHO, read the above links and educate yourself as much as possible about the car. If you choose to buy it, assuming the car is still relatively stock, leave it alone. Enjoy it. Learn about it, how to perform basic maintenance, minor repairs etc. Do the reliabilty mods, including the boost guage, and replacement of the pre-cat with a downpipe, metal AST , maybe even change the tranny and diff fluids and plugs, but don't go crazy with the performance mods. This is a fast car out of the box anyway.

For a mostly stock car, OEM stuff is very good: NGK BUR7EQP and BUR7EQP plugs and NGK wires. I recently got the wires (along with some other stuff) from Malloy Mazda 1-888-533-3400...ask for Ray Crowe. He knows the cars. They have good prices and free shipping to the lower 48.

Welcome to the "addiction."
Remember, drive defensively and learn the caracteristics of the FD before trying to break the sound barrier... This bit of advice may save your life... The FD can get a bit squirrely in the hands of even the most experienced drivers depending on the different road conditions etc...
