newb lookin for some advice

ok so most of you im gueesin will hate on me cuz i dont own a RX-7(FD) but im looking into buying one around the summer time here(massachusetts) my current car is an 02 nissan sentra se-r spec-v just got it in july/august of 04

reasoning for not going directly with cars i want was bad credit but i paid it off so new car time

basically im wondering what to look out for when i possibly go to purchase 1??

mechanical probs

anything

that id think of worrying about

and what i should do to it as soon as i get it preventative matnaince wise

and then maye minor upgrades to help get more power out of it without it blowing up on me anything like that

in my area ive only seen 2 1 was was tweaked all to high hell and the other was stock so there rare round my area and i know ill have to travel

sorry for the long post

and thanks for any info givin
Colin

you risk going back into debt, resulting in bad credit again.

He didn't mean the price of the car will put you in debt, its fixing it when something goes wrong, and simply upgrading it that'll put you in debt, along with all of us!

Judging by your current financial situtation, I wouldn't buy one, but hey.. it's your money

You've got plenty of time to learn about this car on your own. Please don't clutter these forums with redundant question unless you've got a question that can't be answered by spending at least 15 minutes of effective research time. These cars are over 10 years old, not a lot has changed since the first FAQs were written (*FAQ stands for "Frequently Asked Questions," if you're not already familiar with the acronymn).

Good luck,

Lord have mercy.. did you say you are paying $400+ for a SENTRA??

Dude they use Vasoline before they bent you over?

You better off Leasing a BMW or something.. geesh..

anyways.. Dont listen to the Nay sayers.. because there will be many about
everything you do in LIFE.. You LIVE Only ONCE. Be like Sinatra and
" do it your way "..

Look for the lowest miles you can find, Get one with most reliability mods done,
like DP, Radiator, SIlicone hose job and etc. also try to find a FD, with someone
that at least has a BOOSTGAUGE.. If you find a high miles FD with no boost gauge
they are either have no clue about Turbo cars or just dumb.

Before you buy, Make sure you do a COMPRESSION TEST, COOLANT PRESSURE TEST.
and DRIVE IT and make sure you getting BOOST from the turbos, and after all the driving
and boosting.. Let the car run, let it idle for a least 10minutes. Check for oil, coolant
leaks, Make sure Fans kick on ...

Goodluck.. Don't blame you for wanting a FD, one of the best looking cars every made.

$20k / 48 months at 0 interest = 416/month. It's not unreasonable - if he has a bad credit rating then add some interest too. Not everyone trades something in.

Anyway, this car will NOT help your finances. It's easy to dump a couple hundred or more per month with the 'required' mods and maintenance. If you autox or road race it, expect new tires, brakes, and other equipment.

Get an insurance quote too. Bad credit scores and FDs do not mix well with insurers. At least you've got a daily driver in the plan.
