a New Rx-7

Hey im pretty new to Rx7club.com

I just recently bought my first Rx-7 and i want to enhance my driving experience by buying parts to the car but have a couple of questions before i begin.

1. Where should i begin? Exhaust
2. Which give help me raise the gas mileage? (quite frankly this the only problem that bothers me about the rx-7)
3. Should I do all the work by myself or should i bring it too a Rotary Specialist?
4. Is it easy to change the oil and things like that?
5. Where can i buy parts where its very cheap?
6. What are RECOMMENDED products i should get before i start getting everything else

Thank You

Your help would be very appreciated

Phillip Ma

1. reliablity mods..radiator, ast, gauges, ect
2. deal with the shitty milage
3. do what your confident about doing
4. oil is a peace of cake, you might have trouble with your oil filter though, you have to unscrew it at a wierd angle from the top.
5. cheap? this aint a honda.
6. reliability mods.

although i have no problem changing the filter, just gotta give her a good 'oomph'. but yeah i agree with scratchjunkie.

how many miles, what year, anything done to the car or is it stock? and it probably wouldn't hurt to try and save up some money for emergencies, and replacing old worn-out parts before you start putting any goodies on the car.

and welcome to the forum. got any pics?

You should have known about the millage on a FD, if you wanna get better gas millage relibly, get a new car. I dont know of any sports car that gets 20+miles per gallon.

Good luck

BTW: Meddle that was very brutal but at the same time very funny Good job

Air seprator tank, when it starts leaking, your gonna overheat, a real no no for rotaries. My brother's car was down for 3 months (yeah i crap you not) because his ast tank busted and it took that long to ship one to Hawaii.

hahahaha, I work at autozone, and one time we called O' Reillys Autoparts, and had a guy searchin for 3-cycle oil for a good 10 minutes. *sigh*....good times good times.

1. First I would go through and change all your fluids and brake pads. Then I would go for an AST, radiator, and a DP.

2. Mileage is sumthin u just gootta deal with in an FD.

3. I think most bolt on stuff can be done yourself, just gotta follow the directions, and be patient.

start learning how to do work on your car yourself to save some money 'cause you'll need it.
like scratchjunkie said
cheap? this aint a honda.
also... if you have a leadfoot like myself that's bad when it comes to gas mileage. i did notice a difference in my gas consumption when i was babysitting my fd when i got my last engine so driving habbits do make a difference.
as far as mods go...
radiator, ast yes
silicone vaccum hoses all around
maybe upgrade the stock I/C piping to hardpipes that come w/ silicone hoses. those crappy rubber hoses holding together the plastic pipes were the first to go when i bought my car. then again you can always go front mount
