New to Rotary
Okay I am new to the Rotary and to the Twin Turbo world there are some things I know but there is prolly alot of things I dont. One thing I know that cought my attention real quick was that when you turn off you car your suppose to wait 2-3 minutes before turning the car off, its suppose to be time to let the turbos cool off? Anyways I was wondering if there were other things to help the reliability of my FD? Any and ALL info will be much appreciated.
Older car list in order:
1996 Acura GSR heavily modded
1998 Saturn SL1 stock (sound system)
2000 Honda Civic stock (bpu)
2003 Saturn Vue stock (sound system)
1993 RX 7 Touring TT stock

What happens when you shut off a blender? It keeps spinning. The bearings in the center section aren't having oil circulated after the engine gets shut down, so its a little hard on the turbos

The actual reason why your not suppose to be hard on your car then shut it down is because the turbos are extremely hot. If you dont give the car a cool down period then there is no oil and coolane to help cool them, thus resulting in turbo failure over time..
You dont have to let it idle for 2-3 mins.. Actually yous hould never have to do that.. Just take it easy the last 5 mins of driving. Letting your car idle to cool down does allow the turbos to cool down after some RECENT hard runs, but your undergood temps get higher and higher.
That being said.... Dont waste money on a turbo timer and dont let your car idle for 2 mins after you get done driving it.. If you know that you were heavy footed then take the last few mins of driving and stay out of boost, let the turbos cool down while driving.. Then you can just pull into you parking space and shut it down worry free.

Man everyone hated on "bpu" yet no one seemed to care about "heavily modded" but point well taken if its for supra next time ill just say minor mod's. Better yet we can come up with our own saying like MMU Minor Modded Upgrade.

Welcome to the board, and welcome to the money pit.
That being said, if you're new to the rotary and wanna more on how it works, read this.
http://www.rotaryengineillustrated.com/
If your new to the FD, which you are, read the newbie thread, like whitey said. All of your questions will be answered there.
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/faq-3rd-gen-other-useful-links-68640/
And remember, before posting a question on the boards, many people on here would appreciate it if you search for an answer, rather than ask a question that has been answered millions of times in millions of threads. For some reason, this seems to irritate people around here.
Good luck with everything and read up and learn before screwing something up on an FD.
