Hum...that might be too small for my application. I guess I'm going to have to get a custom one made. It's only $400 and that's with -16AN fittings on them. Not too bad Mines going to fit under that sheet metal that holds up the hood release thingy

He was born a lonely piece of 321SS straight tubing. One day a man from SPD bent him into several U-bends. The little piece of tubing did not like that and said, "ouch, that hurt!" Then a smart man came along and rescued the 4 u-bend brothers and carried them to his buddies shop. There he put fire under their *** and made them into one again. And so the story was born!

The turbo will sit in front of the motor, that is why the collector is pointing forward. My story was not nearly as entertaining as 240z's but I think that is what you wanted to know...

Thanx

This saga is gettin' better and better. I hope you'll continue to post engine and chassis performance data and maybe even get driver feedback from some of the actual detractors who waste time posting their adolescent jibberish regarding this project (the sun rises and sets on their stock twins).

TNT: nice work so far! I've got a quick question......am i blind or just not seeing the 4th header tube? Looks like the motor is sitting pretty far back. Did you have to cut into the firewall? Sorry if this has been asked before....just didn't feel like reading all the pages to find out.

I did cut the seam that sticks out off of the firewall, because i wanted as far back as I could put, plus the shifter lines up perfectly where it is... You actually can not see the front runner because it is behind the waterneck in the pic

I actually don't mind this idea as opposed to the LS1 bullshit. One question, which may have been covered, but I didn't feel like reading through 5 pages. What motor does this come from. I was actually thinking the skyline motor would be a good idea with a T76 on it..

It comes out of a Silvia (jspec 240sx), and yes an rb26 out of a skyline would be the ****, IMO it is more stout than a 2jz, it is definately a possibilty in the evolution of this car....

I was not aware that the RB26 was capable of 900+hp on factory rods and pistons, let alone crank.

In terms of overall driveability, i will however agree that the RB26 is the superior engine. In most power ranges from 500-700hp, it is my opinion that the RB26s power characteristics are much more linear and driveable versus the 2JZ.

As for the SR20 into FD swap, i for one am anxious to see the final results. Judging from the pics, it does look as if there is a good portion of the motor that sits forward of the front axle and this concerns me as to what inherent effect it might have on the handling of the car. Time will tell i suppose.

Hey!
You guys have too excuse Sean(tnt)! He's suffering from an 'Evil Spell' inflicted on to him by what I must say was an evil 'Rotary Witch Doctor!'
Sean was in my shop yesterday and he brought the header to show me. It's a work of art!
Too bad he did not come to me earlier becuase I might of been able to rid him of the 'Evil Spell' inflicted on him.

Is that a Burns collector? If not then it's pretty damn nice for a home brew It looks like some pretty nice welding from the pics.

Eat your heart out TNT, it is some damn nice welding if I do say so! We are actually making some minor changes to the design. We are putting the bellow immediately after the merge collector as this is the direction of thermal expansion. It is a minor job and actually creates some opportunity to lower the turbo away from the hood. I have just chopped the intake manifold and decked it on the mill in preparation for our 45mm full radius velocity stacks. They will protrude into the plenum about .5"-.75". This should increase flow by 3-5%. We also fabbed the fuel rail for the 950cc injectors. It is getting ever so close! If only TNT would get off his *** and takes some pics of the intake manifold progress....hint....hint!

Looking good. Do we have a projected ETA on the completion of the SR-FD project? I'm quite excited to know the final weight, corner balance, handling and straight line performance of this project.

I agree, even though the runners weren't equal length, It did look like a piece worth displaying proudly.

Good Luck Shaun, It was nice meeting you again.

Your modifying the intake manifold? I thought they were pretty nice pieces to begin with. Or are you just making small changes? I'm not really that up to date on them....just looked at them from the outside.
