Did anyone else notice they just shut the car off mid-pull? The power was still climbing and torque was near-flat so there was a lot more to come. I guess they were pretty worried about AFR's 12.6 @ 20+psi!

Actually it was 7750 rpm, not 7250. Something weird with an optical sensor or some crap like that making it off by 500 rpm...

But there were other runs that went to 8000 rpm +...so Ralph probably did cut out cause of the AFR

And you work for NASA? ROFL! Nothing important I hope Showing a motor of substantially more capacity getting 400hp on pump gas achieves nothing.
No, I just changed the toilet paper rolls in building 45!

some SR20DET info....91-94 SR20det redtop s13 -180sx and silvia. 94 and 98 blacktop s13 - 180sx and silvia. bot of these make 205hp. S14 motor, 220hp from a t28 and VTC. there is a slant in the back of the valve cover. S15 motor = 250hp again diff turbo. I own an SR powered 240 and you get props for doin the swap. But I'd rather would have seen what yu could've have done w/ the 13b. Hybrid RX7's are cool and might be more reliable but thats not what the car is designed to be. I saw the video of that V8 FD and it didn't sound right. I would see why Top Secret did the 3S swap into the supra to save weight.....but wouldnt the SR be heavier than a 13b.....just my 2cents..

Wow, so the RX7 was not designed for an engine swap? Damn, thats weird. I thought when most manufacturers made cars they designed them to accept engines from other manufacturers.

Obviously you have never picked up a 13b before, it is very heavy for it's size, the sr is actually lighter....

can you lift the whole SR block by yourself? i didnt know that. i didnt know it was that light. ive been juggling 2 13b-rew blocks for the past couple of months and i was moving them around by use of "manual labor" cause it just took too much time to put 'em on the hoist for a 5 foot move.

paul

hang on a sec.............................. i have picked up an sr20 motor. it was one of the FWD models. a turbo motor that was fitted into a 240sx se-r out here. the guy that had it didnt break it in. . . so the engine broke itself in. hahahaha. conn. rod broke the wrist pin and busted through the block on both sides!!!! this thing was mutilated (sp?) anyways, it was pretty light. . . but it also didnt have the head on it and no oil pan. only the block, pistons, conn. rods, and pistons. id have to say that they are pretty close. the difference is in the height. you cant tell me that an sr20 is the same height as a 13b.

It is hard to tell, but each port on the flange has a milled 0.125" depth slot so the primaries are pushed into the flange before welding. This gives the header added strength as opposed to just welding the tube to the surface of the flange. It is not too tricky to bend the 321 stainless from a round end to an oval end to match the milled section of the port. It is just placed in a vice and squashed until it can fit into the milled slot. You then weld .5" of the top and bottom and use a punch and hammer from the inside to make sure the tube does not overlap the port on the flange. After that, just grab your 347 rod and zip it up. I think most will like how the turbo is to be located. It will be hard mounted to the front of the block as high as the hood permits. between the header and turbo an inconel/321SS bellow is used to absorb the thermal expansion and vibration. This way, the header does not support the weight of the turbo. However, these F1 bellows are about $160 each. Atleast it is cheaper than those damn $175 Wiggins clamps! Header will be done by Friday for final pics.
