New problem

Well, about a week ago I had a boost sensor hose come off. I plug it back in and done deal. A few days later I drive it on a cool night for about 30 min with a light sprint. I notice the engine check light comes on. After cooldown I check all fluids/oils and everything seems ok. No strange/weird sounds comming from the engine. Still the engine check light. I run the codes and I get the usual code 16 for egr (one long pulse and 6 short ones). I know that needs to be replaced. I store the codes and reset to clear the checklight. Checklight stays off but only for a few minutes. I figure what the heck and drive it to work since my other car is at the shop. Park the car and let the turbo timer do its thing. I go out to lunch and when I start my car the "Add coolant buzzer" goes on along with the "Over heat exhaust". Now i'm shitting it. I look under the car and coolant is all over the place. I check my coolant with the dipstick and it's full! Earlier Before I left for work I checked my fluids and opened up the AST cap along with this other cap which i'm unfamiliar with. It has an aluminum cap with what looks to me like a bleed-off vavle within the cap (located to the upper left of the AST cap). when I unscrewed it depressurized. What is going on here? I'm dreading the engine isn't toast and gonna need a rebuild. Did I do something I should't have?

the buzzer will stay on until all of the air is taken out of the system. Just let the car do it by itself and after a couple minutes at idle shut the car off and then start it again.

the car can't overheat if you just turned it on after it was sitting for hours and just let it idle. Did you think that maybe when you left the car with the turbo timer
it overheated? thats highly unlikely and it couldnt get to very high if you had it on for a minute.

Now about coolant being everywhere how did that happen? Did you put the ast cap and the other cap back on properly?

dont worry im sure you didnt hurt anything

I guess i'm gonna top off the coolant everyday. I heard that helps also. Thanks snook. I hope you're right. If not, you can pay for my rebuild.

what are you smoking?? I can't even pay for mine haha. We'll the first one I had covered like a pro but the second one 4 months later is hurting pretty bad. Actually for a college kid with no job I'm pretty impressed with how easily I can come up with money to take care of this car. Is should be no problem for most other people since I can afford it in these circumstances but I also don't have any other bills.

If you overheated it really bad (and I'm still not totally sure what happened) then the inside of the motor could have become warped and you won't be needing a rebuild you'll need a reman! OWN3D!!

Well that same night I filled her up with coolant (topped-off) all the buzzers went away and when I got home and cooled her off, everything seemed fine. Is my over-flow tank leaking or is it my radiator? I have no means of jacking her up on all fours or anyway to elevate the car. Anyway to find out what it is? BTW, that night all the fluid drained. Only about 20% was left.

You need to get underneath the car and find the leak. It could you one of your radiator hoses, or the radiator itself. It doesn't sound like your overflow bottle is leaking, because you said that was full when you checked.

When you said you checked your coolant with a dipstick and it was full, you are only checking the coolant in the overflow bottle. The coolant you should be concerned about it what is in the engine. The low coolant buzzer sensor is located in the filler neck on the water pump housing.

It doesn't sound like an engine problem. You probably have a major leak somewhere. Don't drive the car till you figure it out.
