3"downpipe w/stock exhaust, boost spike?

hey guys,
im looking at a 2nd FD but one thing concerns me about the car. its all stock but just a 3" downpipe. will the restriction of the stock exhaust prevent boost spikes? the car does not have a boost gauge so i dont think the current owner will know if he has a boost spike when he floors it.

no, the dp actually improves the car. the pre-cat is known to clog, so the dp eliminates that problem. the other thing the dp does is it decreases the temp's under the hood dramatically.
you can bring a boost guage along w/ you and hook it up on a test run, but i doubt you'd see more than 11 psi w/ just a dp. good luck looking for an rx7.
