it can handle safe 14 psi of boost but needs to be tuned properly.. do a compression test first...if ur low on compression i wouldnt risk over 10psi

lots of variables but here is some info on the totally stock car:

and generally speaking, 10 psi = 255 hp, 12 psi = 280 hp, 14 psi = 300 hp. But once again....LOTS of variables.

CYM... such a beautiful colour... >.>

Yeah theres a lot to tuning a car, its not a honda so you cant just slap a gigantic turbo and think itll run

the stock TURBOS cant handle more than 14 psi, although theres some guy on here somewhere that claims hes running 19psi on the stock system.

The Stock block, i wouldnt expect to hold more than maybe 15 or 16 psi. but i may be wrong.

this is shocking to me because i thought you could slap on a big single, tune, and get 400 to the wheels.

i have a 300zx twin turbo, the stock block can handle 600rwhp, just need to up the turbos+supporting mods. actually we dont really know how much the block can handle, no ones bothered to find out, but ive seen many in the 500-600rwhp range.

p.s. what a coincidence, our stock turbos cant do more than 14psi safely either, after that point the air it pushes is too hot. but at 14psi its about 370rwhp.

its likely im going to buy this one tonight:

thanks for everyones patience with my noobness

I know you are simplifying your statement on purpose, but basically partly what you said is true. You can run a large single turbo on a stock ported engine without a problem. However, you do need all the supporting pieces to make it happen (i.e. fuel system, decent intercooler, ECU, etc).

yeah, it seems Mazda over engineered this car, and made it perform like a true sports car... but i guess they didnt quite look into what would happen 10 years down the road xD

first 5, SURE itll run like a champ... and then things... kinda... break... down....
