Lightbulb headlamps stuck up

dont worry i searched all prev threads first like you should.

i'm guessing its the headlight retractor relay and guessing its the one located next to the fuse box.

so in the morning i will be yanking that out and trying another in there.

if not that i will try to make sure earth is ok

failing that will check dash switch

failing that i will shout verbal abuse at the car and tell it its no longer my friend and im taking my ball in and not playing with him anymore.

WHAT WENT WRONG with my headlights ?

i had a faulty motor on passanger side so stripped it cleaned it re attached and used dash switch to see if it worked it did a couple of time then it stopped tried again on dash switch and im sure i heard a pop like a fuse going but i have checked every single god for saken fuse and all ok so bought 2 new motors and fitted them as soon as i connect them up they go but down they wont

no i cant wind em down (but have disconnected conectors to allow me too do this

yes checked every fuse

yes been to mazda (who dont have a clue as to where the relay is let alone the problem)

yes stood looking at engine scratching head

yes stood looking at engine whilst uming and arghing with a coffee

HAVE I MISSED ANYTHING

Did you push the "pop up with lights off" button?

yer thats what i ment when i said "dash switch"

after playing around the other day trying different things i noticed that if i push the dash switch really slowly in and out the lights will go up and dn but once switch is released in either postion they just stay up

so i think the swicth is busted and now going to scower the uk for another one to try it

My dash switch was not connected properly and once I got my hand in behind the dash and popped it back on proper, it worked like a charm....

That was after I replaced the passanger motor aswell tho!! If I remember correctly. both motors have to be good or neither will operate correctly!!

Check the wire loom under the drive front fender in the tire well behind the headlight assembly. My tire rubbed off the insulation and severed the connection.

Good luck.

hi guys just got back in and bad news for me

i tried what GEO147 said about the switch but it was pushed all the way in so i stripped the switch all contacts fine but did notice out of the 5 wires there is only 1 wire that has power and only one when you turn the lights on

i have replaced the passanger side motor as faulty and will put another motor on the drivers side in the morning even tho its ok ( Grrrr )

JUPITER i did check the wiring loom under the drivers side arch as i had heard they get rubbed off if people have lowered the car however this one is still stock standard in every detail except the turbo gauge

and trying to get that switch out well that was a task in its self grrr

its shocking i got her booked in for a full respray next week and this is how she repays me well thats it im not speaking to her lol

Did you check your retractor relay....in a USDM I think the relay is under the fresh air thingy at the very front of the car!!

FOUND THE RELAYS

BUT A PROBLEM

so i go to the front of the car and take off the black plastic cover and found another strip of relays

woopeee i thought but there is an air con relay, fuel pump relay, tns relay, retra relay, radio relay

so i assumme the retra relay is the retractor relay

now the prob open the box and no retractor relay in there

so still stuck

someone has got to know what it is

On JDM cars the retra relay is by the accelarator. Remove the panel to the right of the pedal and you'll see it behind there.
