New Guy saying Hi!

I just joined the club...
I've been surfing rx7club.com for a while and the right car came up.
FYI: I am a n00b, BUT I have a few VERY experienced friends,
just a call away The car needs a new bumper/fender and new paint.
I got a really good deal!

I'm not going all crazy with this car...just yet

Stats:
1994 Montego Blue RX-7(base) I like this color
Auto, Cloth seats, 41xxx Org. Miles, no rebuilds
Fan mod, Downpipe & Boost Gauge (thanks to Rick!)

Next weekend I'm doing the Silicone hose job, Replacing the AST,
Getting Pulleys, Most likely a turbo timer(now I just sit & wait)

I left a few pics for you guys!

very nice and clean looking. Yea I would say go with a 5 speed swap (no point in having an automatic sportscar) but you do with it as you want

get the five speed swap, but stay away from the turbo timer dude. I've wondered about the turbo timer thing for a while, but I got the breakdown from a VERY experienced rx7 guy. The turbo timer runs the engine at idle for a time, right? Well, when the engine is running at idle, all you're doing is heating up the engine, and since the fans won't run all the time (unless you run the fans on permanently) the engine's only gonna heat up more, which can't be great for the seals and gaskets in the long run. Just take it easy on the car for the last mile or 2 before you get to your destination, and then shut the car off. One recommendation I'd give though is definately get a water temp and oil temp gauge as well as a boost controller.

Welcome, and good luck dude.

That's good advice. And yea, ditch the auto. I recently drove an auto FD, and it SUCKED by a mile, compared to my manual FD. Auto just sucks

Oh and hey, I know it's stil early in the game, but if you ever plan on selling your seats, I'm calling dibs (I love the base cloth seats )

Thanks!
I'll get the 5-speed swap after the 'Reliability Modifications' are finished .
(if I still have cash) the auto was to good of a deal to pass up
Now I just need to find a new daily beater! Not a problem, there is lots of
beat cars in front yards around here

Yeah my buddy wants to switch he leather seats with my cloth ones...
I'm gonna stick with the cloth ones

good Idea on the cloth ones. They are better then sliding around on leather IMO. The 5 speed swap should be fun as long as you aren't fixing someone elses mistakes like I am lol.

Your fans are kicking in because when your car is sitting idling, no air is coming into the engine bay to cool it via the radiator or the oil coolers. So basically you're heatsoaking the crap outta your car by having it idle in place like that. Temps rise, fans kick in. Also, from what I've read, idling for extended periods isn't good because it causes carbon deposits to build up...
