New FD owner with some questions about my new car

I just bought a 94 RX7 and I want to know what kind of horsepower I can make with the set up it has now with a dyno tune.

And what things I should do that the car is missing.

I am thinking about the Charge Speed wide body kit?? Any thoughts on this?

Specs..
94 rx7-rebuilt 13b with about 500 miles
-street port
-single turbo (hks T04e)
-hks turbo manifold
-Greddy FMIC
-koyo raditator
-HKS BOV
-HKS FULL exhuast
-Apexi Power FC w/commander
-850 primary, 1300 secondary injectors
-Walboro fuel pump
-greddy proflex b BC
-HKS turbo timer
-Tien coilovers
-volk rims
-indash dvd
-new door speakers (dont remember brands on dvd or speakers)

This is all I can remember but im wondering just an estimated rwhp and if i were to upgrade turbo...what would be a good upgrade that is basically bolt on with my setup??

I have always wanted a FD and i am happy to finally own one, even though im worried about the problems they have, but i have done research and hope to keep mine on the street....

PLEASE DO NOT FLAME ME I HAVE LOOKED UP DYNO SHEETS AND STUFF WITH SET UPS CLOSE TO MINE, BUT I DONT HAVE A GOOD IDEA FOR EST HP, AND I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW WHAT THINGS I NEED TO DO TO THE CAR.

Thanks alot,
Bobby

300-350 is all you need on the street. you can achieve that with your set-up.

i would say around 430rwhp if u do a more aggressive tune and if u do a widebody kit u can get wider tires to get better traction

personally though id go with a v-mount intercooler
and u may want to think about relocating your battery (its not a must but i personally would)
and if dont already get dual oil-coolers
but u got a great setup as is

and if u want the more aggressive tune then u may want to look at water injection

Battery is relocated. Whats the the difference between fmic and v mount? Bettering cooling because of larger intercooler???

And anyone with an idea with turbo upgrade?????

if your looking for fun than yea 300-350 is probley good.
but if you want to race people i would shoot for more hp.

on that setup i would go with

http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=824

mounts right up.

plus you can run less boost and make more power.

for me my idea of fun is being the fastest fd in alabama!!

Hey, you're in MI! You should PM ROTARYFDTT - that's Ryan, a good friend of mine. He's from Rochester Hills. He has a setup similar to yours and he made 377 to the wheels on a really hot day.

Check the Single Turbo section:

https://www.rx7club.com/single-turbo-rx-7s-23/

They have a sticky thread of various setups and what power they are getting from those setups.

The setup sounds great. as far as performance goes. Widebody kit and wider wheels/tires are great. but that whole thing will cost you an arm and a leg. If you're really itchy to change something on your car... first change:

- new spark plugs
- new fuel filter
- clean your air filter
- check for any leaks

these are important fundamental stuff and you don't know how long its been since they were changed.

i assume with single turbo, the previous owner already changed the pullies... but if not... that's a considerable performance upgrade. It makes a noticeable difference for rotaries

welcome to the club. Enjoy~

Why don't you put it on a dyno and find out where your at before you go "upgrading" any thing. You've never said what boost pressure your running or what your PFC is tuned for.

Hey I got the car 2 days ago....I dont even have it titled yet. And I saw the sticky on the turbos.

its running 9psi, low boost, the engine only has less than 500 miles on rebuild, shouldnt I break it in before running higher boost and dyno tuned.

Bryant-Thanks, and whatever car I have, its never fast enough. I have this car and a good amount of money to put into it, but Im trying to get as much info as I can, this is my first rotary.

Sprockett-Thanks ill shoot him a PM, do you know what the tuning factory is, out by where you live? Any idea on their reputation? I was going have them do some work for me...

I thought motor were broken in at 1000 miles... if that is true I would not boost at all on the motor.

You need to find a tuner in your area and get it tuned unless it already is

Have you ever owned any other sports cars?

To be honest until it's broken in you shouldn't even be running boost. I'd say since you got it only two days ago your getting way ahead of yourself. There's plenty of information on here if searched (try break in for rebuilt motor) to start with, read the stickies, download the FSM (just happens to be for a 94) while the rotary is new to you this car is a min of 12 years old and most anything you can do to these cars has been done, researched, tried & true. The biggest killers of these cars and motors are the owners, even when all precautions are taken if any component fails you run the risk of loosing a motor. Get familiar with it's handling or it will bite you in the *** and if it doesn't kill you will most likely put another one in the scrap yard. The single will make the car a bit more predictable but won't make it any less treacherous in the rain. Get it broke in get it tittled, licensed, tagged and just enjoy it before you waste your money on it.

word im just trying to research still, I have been researching. I have a another car to drive all the time. I want to build another that I can make with alot of power, but still good lookin

skir2222- i have had 2-240sx's (both with SR's),SRT-4,F-150 lightning, and a
300zx, all with alot of **** done to them.

I still have my 93 180sx bodystyle, but i think im going get rid of it and just have a truck for work and the FD.

But anyway the car hasnt even been driven at al since ive had it. And after I do break it in im going go to this place here called the tuning factory and have it dyno tuned...

A few quick things.

1: Have you done any research outside of this thread? Have you read the FAQ Sticky at the top? Read through FD3S.net and rob robinette's webpage? Did you research at all before you bought the car?

2: None of those are sportscars. Sorry if it seems nit-picky to you, but there's about 15 worlds of difference between FDs and any of the cars you listed. Essentially, aside from how the oil is changed, EVERYTHING is different with this car. Study up bro.

And 3: Don't go to some generic engine tuner. They are often ill equiped to properly tune rotaries. Out cars, on a piston engine tune, would blow up. Find a reputable rotary tuner. I There's Atkins, BDC, Gotham, Petit, JPR, KDR, and plenty more. If you're unsure of what rotary tuners there are in your area, check the regional section. Find a high quality rotary tuner. Some tuners can even be flown out for tuning sessions.

Except for the fact that you don't get your power numbers, road tuning is generally better than dyno tuning, but that's a small thing.

Yes I have been studying all over. And those cars not sports cars? mmkay. anyway there is a mechanic there who is specialized in rx7's.

I just wanted to ask a couple questoins on here, like i said i know ppl who have FD's and they helped me picked my car.

Does my HKS T04E have internal or external wastegate?

Don't let the tuning factory touch your car. They are OK with tuning Hondas and Subarus, but would totally mess a rotary up. I've had both good and bad experience with them. They seem very nice, the business side is a little lacking, and it seems like it takes them a very long time to do something (took a FULL DAY to install 3 Defi gauges on one of my old Evos). They also managed to install the crank position sensor wrong on the other of my Evos while installing cams, and the rotating plate on the crank destroyed it the first time it cranked over. They did put me up in a hotel overnight for free, but they did the same thing while repairing it the second time...that time the sensor must have just been loose because it made it all the way back to Midland, but it died on the side of the road. Had to have it towed to a dealership to have it fixed again (same exact problem). They did, however, pay for the repairs without any grief, so while they might mess something up, they have been good at making up for it. Again, they are very good at building high-HP hondas and are good with Subarus and Nissans, but I wouldn't trust them with anything beyond the normal cars

Nope, for you I suggest www.banzai-racing.com. That is where all of the Michigan guys take their FDs. My friend Ryan (ROTARY) had his built and tuned there...my friend Tim (finniky7) from up near me had his built there...There are a lot of others...Craig, Joe...all have had their engines and/or other things done by Chris Sanders at Banzai. He's in Indiana, so it's a small drive, but well worth it. Shoot him a PM on here, too...his screen name is BlueTII. Tell him Tyler sent you to him

Tyler-Thanks alot, it would be worth the drive, and i just talked to my friend who is having a B16 for his civic built at tuning factory and the work has now almost been 6 months longer than they said... But apparently this mechanic that i once knew there, has gotten a new job? so ill deffently take the ride out there. Thanks alot for everything. In a couple days is it cool if I shoot you a PM and get some info to talk to you about some stuff, and to give me a little more direction?
