New on ClubRX - removing the instrument cluster and interior panels

I've been meaning to do this one for a long time. The interior panels are brittle and tricky to deal with, but I think I have a pretty good system for carefully removing everything.

In the writeup, I show how to remove the instrument cluster and the stereo surround properly, and how to break down the instrument cluster if you need to fix parts in the cluster, like the tach or the speedo.

Here's the link -

http://www.clubrx.org/default.asp?id...ntent=69&mnu=5

Please let me know if there's anything unclear or needing better explanation.

My car is now happily sporting a boss JDM oil pressure gauge in metric . Yes, I'm a nerd.

Enjoy,
Dale

Very very nice! Pictures really help a lot. Thanks! This will really help me take off that annoying air bag light.

Awesome write-up. This is what I was waiting for before removing mine as I KNOW I would of broke something without a proper write-up. Pics always make things alot easier and the ones you took will work great.

Now I have something to do this weekend....strip and coat the last of my scratched/peeling panels. This is one of the last things on my interior that need addressing, AND I CAN FINALLY DO IT!!!

Holy mother of God, you have to ******* pull that hood HARD to get that ******* thing to come out. I'm not even joking, God damn, my ******* fingers are throbbing. The entire time I'm thinking "Yup, I'm going to ******* break it"

I checked like 3 or 4 times to make sure I had all the screws out just in case. I was almost positive something was still holding it in place, but all it was the king kong clips that weren't going to give up without a fight.

In the end, it's off, I have to go to a b-day party right now, then it's back to work on the 7.

Yep, I thought the same thing first time I had to pull one on a '93. The '94 is a CINCH. Dunno why they made it that hardcore on the '93s!

No kidding, I mean at least I guess I don't have to worry about anyone stealing my gauge cluster and hood anytime soon

I don't know why or when it would ever come off again after this, but if I maybe pinched those clips a tiny little bit with pliers so they don't flare as much, would this would so it wasn't such a bitch to get it out again without messing anything up?

Dale,

How goes it? I have just been reviewing threads about removing interior panels. you seem to have a link although can't open it.

Has it been moved or any chance you could send on to me?

THanks

Wozza
