New Carbon Fiber Interior Thread (the list is here)
You say that the quality is very high. I was just wondering how it will hold up to daily wear and tear. I just dont want the CF to just fall off after lil bite of time has passed. Could you send the originall pics to me? I would like to see the parts in a better pic. I am interested. If the quality meets what I want.

Comptech, I think I can answer that. Wrapping carbon fiber isn't like an overlay that you'd get from New York City Dash or Torasport or whatever. Once wrapped to the item, it's not coming off unless you actually took whatever it was and beat it against the ground, and maybe not even then. The carbon fiber is hardened by a resin that's applied to it so that it becomes super strong. There are different ways of going about doing this, but that's the general idea behind it. It doesn't flake or anything like that, although it can yellow if you don't use UV resistant resin. Even the cheapies have switched over to the UV resistant stuff as the price has come down on it since the beginning of the carbon fiber craze.
93Efini, I'm just curious as to why you think those pieces look like crap? What exactly are you referring to?

XxMerlinXX is correct with how it was explained to me. Its a resin. next off, XxMerlinxX, dude ignore 93efini. He is trying to **** this thread because their little scheme did not work. THEY WILL SHUT THIS THREAD DOWN IF ANYONE STARTS FIGHTING WITH 93efini or anyone else. they are just causing trouble. Guys that want the stuff, ignore him and PM me if you want any info. This thread gets shut down, I am only going to help out who I have so far on my list, that's it, I am tired of this. ******* children!! We are in the process of hosting the larger photos to a web page right now. BTW, it is a very well known site on the Forum and if that isn't enough validation as to the quality of work, then have a nice day.
I also want everyone to know that on the speedo, his work does allow you to keep the turn signal markers, which I thought was the case. I am having the photos hosted in the large size and you will be able to see the detail. Also, his work on the shifter panel is unmatched, he not only does the panel and ashtray, but he does the buttons too. I don't know that I have seen others go into that type of detail. Know what I am saying?
alright, here is the link to view the bigger pics. thanx to Mike at wrex-racing.com. Check it out.

nothing aftermarket is perfect.
even though Mark Kock's work was awesome, I had the center console delaminate on me. I sent it back to mark and he fixed it free of charge.
It just makes sense that the resin can breakdown no matter how careful and strong you try to make it.
Time will tell but so far, this maybe the one of the few ways for people to get the CF look.
And sonix your correct, he does do the turn signal indicators exactly like how they are in my car.

thanx for your shared experience with the stuff. I didn't realize that would happen, I am sure if that ever happened with this guy he would do the same and replace it free of charge. From what I have gotten from this guy in our talks is he is very proud of his stuff and would want to make sure it is perfect. I agree on the this method maybe the only way to get the CF look. Until injection molding becomes easier and more available to aftermarket companies or something?

Sonix, is there a chance we can set this up into a groupbuy? I noticed in your orignal post he said if more people ordered he could do better on the price. What are our options on this?

Weird, I've never seen or heard of that kinda thing happening either. That complete interior door handle set in the tan interior is beautiful. Exactly what I want.
I have contacted him three different times with the proposition of hooking up a GB for us, he has not confirmed either way, I know he said he is down for at least another month and he would add me to his list of people to contact when back up for my whole dash and panels and some misc. stuff. This is how I am going to do this, if he says he can't do that many and is not interested, I will post mine and give the contact. If he does want to do it then it is on. I am praying he does. Either way the people that have contacted me will either get a group buy or his contact info. he did say that he is getting a machine, I think a vac machine(?) and could do his work a lot faster, that is a big plus. So lets wait and see what he says. I did contact him about a bunch of other prices. so stay tuned.

I'm thinking it's probably an autoclave that he's getting. And will indeed make the work much quicker. Or it could be something I just don't know about. Hmmm... I'll still keep Tim in the loop about this just incase he just feels like doing your work. Glad we have a few alternatives though.

exactly!!! comptech PM me with what you want done. I will add you to the list. XxMerlinxX that is totally cool to get your man involved, that way we can maybe make this work in more ways than one. I am doing what I can to hook everyone up, like I stated before make up your own mind on this as we have about a month to think about it. The dude that keeps trying to jack this thread is madd I wouldn't pay his prices, which were too high for me. I questioned him and you can see for yourself what happened. he doesn't even own an FD and did ONE shifter panel for ONE guy on the forum. Ignore him if you want this thread to continue. Everyone else that is interested PM me.
anyways, looking at the pics the quallity looks good enough. Honestly I think Mark put more clear on mine as it looks "deeper". But it could just be the pics.
If you look at Mark's old thread it took him a while to get going. If it were me I would wait for the first guinea pig to get it from this guy to double check the quality and workmanship....
I think Mark had to do the same and look how busy he got.

7racer. I understand what you are saying and IMO that this guy has been doing this for a couple of years, If everyone would like maybe I can get NOPISTONS94 to hook up with the guy and look at the quality and report back before anyone spends anything, just a thought. If the guy is still in the Jersey area? I didn't ask him where he was moving to. I also read this info on Carbon Fiber work. Check it out. http://www.carbonfiberparts.net/. click on FAQ. I believe this is Marc Koch's old site. I think it would be unneccesary to have nopistons94 look at the stuff and use up his time and gas(but he offered), you can see for yourself what kind of quality, it even shows up close the rolled edge of the door guards. I am spending a lot of time on this for not much in return. Thanx for all the inquiries, I hope this works out for everyone.

UPDATE: obviously I am still waiting for my guy to relocate for the CF work, I am still pursuing a GB on these pieces, however, I have been researching extensively on the Carbon Fiber Laminate process and I am going to give it a shot, in a nutshell, I have ordered about nine different Carbon Fiber and Kevlar/hybrid fabrics and the epoxy resin and I am going to make some stuff. I have extensive background in fiberglass or composite work, this is the next step. I don't want to wait and I feel I can do this at a very high quality, and pull it off. I also have been schooled in the art of vacuum bagging to get a better overall resin to fiber ratio which will enable me to make more complex parts. Fun sounding isn't it. I think so. I will be doing some pieces this week and we will see what I can do. Wish me luck. I will keep you all posted.

UPDATE: guys I am still waiting for contact from my guy in New Jersey, but in the mean time I am experimenting with my newly trained skills. This is my first piece ever, I am still in the process of laminating it, this is after three coats of resin and no sanding and no clear coat. I will be doing more pieces in a few days. there are a number of possibilities, red kevlar, blue kevlar, yellow kevlar and three different type of carbon fiber fabrics. I will be able to do anything soon. Practice makes perfect.
UPDATE: I wanted to post some of the work I am doing now. They are very challenging to cover, but are coming along nicely. Obviously these pieces are wet and curing. I will post pics when I am done. Anyone that is interested in doing pieces I might be able to help you out. Pm me if you want to talk about it. Meanwhile here are some pics, this is using a 3k twill weave, carbon graphite material.
