Forgot that today was labor day. As soon as I talk to the shop tomorrow I'll update again. I'm contemplating going ahead and getting mine done so you guys can see how it'll turn out.

Alright, I've got an update. Tim said he can definitely do it, but there's two ways of going about doing this. He can make actual replacement parts out of carbon fiber, but that'll be harder and more time consuming due to those little clips that have to be fabricated. The other way is just wrapping the consoles and other pieces, that way he doesn't have to worry about the clips. I'm getting a windscreen for my R6 on Monday, so I can take pictures of it for you guys to see then. What I need one of you guys to do, is make measure ments length and width wise so he knows, generally, about how much material is going to go into this. I'd do it myself but Mazda has my car at the moment. If this is a problem, I'll drive up to anderson to go take the measurements, but it'd be easier if one of you guys did it for me. Feel free to post up any comments or questions and I'll answer them as best I can.

Replacements are going to drastically drive up the price of the pieces. If he does it that way, he has to perfect the mold for each individual piece that we want done. He'll then have to perfect each individual tab and clip by hand. That's a lot of time and there's really no reason to mold these parts when the wrapped items will look just as good.

I wanted to post a message from a guy in New Jersey named Jon that does this exact carbon fiber work, he used to be on ebay and his work is incredible. I am trying to get pics. anyway his message to me is as follows. unfortunately this was at the beginning of the year and I have not spoke to him recently,Iwas looking to get the a-pillars done at the time.I wanted to post this message to give an idea of what he told me and what he charged.

i cant cover the pillar with the pod because the CF doesnt bend around the pod unless i do the pillar seperate from the pod, i thought you were going to put gauges under the radio? i could just do the pillars and maybe you could move the gauge to another location. i bought a gauge cup and put my gauge on top of the steering column, now my pillars are back to factory except there carbon F. thats up to you. if you want me to do one part now so you can see the quality thats fine with me. here are some prices, if you get more done at once i can give you a better deal.

door sills 125$
center console and ashtray 140$
outside door handles, new lowered price 130$
inside door handles 170$
R1 front lip 200$
all 4 inner triangles 40$
99 spec wing, center and end caps only 250$
gauge cluster and top 150$
a/c panel no din 75$
steering column top and bottom 70$
headlight surround 75$
windshield pillars 150$

thats what most people ask me for. of course if you want more done at once i can give you a better deal. also those prices include shipping. let me know if i missed something
so if anybody can match these prices I am down to do the whole dash and door panels and maybe a few small things. thanx

Thanks for posting sonix7, I'll see if Tim can't match or even beat those prices. I still need the measurements for the stock pieces though, anybody wanna get the ball rolling on this?

I can do some measuring later, exactly what do you need? You should definately give him pics of the pieces we are asking for if you have not already. Let me know.

I can give him pics of the stuff sure, but as long as I don't have measurements to go along with the stuff, it's not really gonna do him any good.

Do you just need surface measurements for each piece? Give me an idea of exactly what kind of measurements you need and I will see what I can do. I am interested in seeing what your guy can come up with, and a GB is what most of us want. Not individual prices that are going to cost up to $1000. That doesn't help anyone. You can tell by the response to the last carbon fiber thread. We need very competitive prices and high quality work, then everyone will be down. Whoever decides to do this is going to make themselves a very good profit and help out a ton of us. plus this is not a performance upgrade, its asthetic, for looks, bling. $1000 is a lot to pay for just the dash and doors. that's what I am thinking.
Let me know Merlin?

Ok, I need just the general demensions of the pieces. Like what's the length, width, and height. With that plus the pictures, we should be in business.

Is overlaying existing pieces still an option?

it's the only way to go!!! I have never seen a mold of these parts in Carbon Fiber, never. I don't even think one exists. could be wrong, but your gonna have to prove it.

I e-mailed the guy last night, we will have to see if he is still up an running. I am waiting. Bad news is he is off e-bay and I am not sure what is up. I last talked with him in January, I may have missed him. His name on e-bay was (allaboutthe7). I checked and he is not on here by that name, see he owns an FD of his own. I guess we will just have to wait and see if gets back to me, I am willing to beg at this point. His work was perfect, and prices were great. cross your fingers that he returns my message, we might be in business if he does. He knows every piece and can give up prices up front, said he can do just about anything and I have seen pics and he is better than good. He also includes shipping in the price. I am on it and trying my hardest since I know how many are looking to have this done.

I am going to be doing the measurements after I get off work today at 4. I wanted to give you guys a better idea why I hate the torasport carbon fiber dash kit. This is the shifter piece, check out how it does not cover the whole panel, I suspect that its because of the rounded edge on the drivers side, the layovers don't bend and stick very well, so that would cause it to peel off. They should be killed for doing this, and I wasted money on it,

after buying the torasport carbon fiber dash kit
