Exclamation New Car Help

HI, im new to this forum i just got a question. My dad is buying me a Mazda RX-7 when I get my license in a couple of weeks and I just would like to know what are somthing i can do to it to bring its hp up to around 340 and above but under like 450 hp. I just want it fast enough to beat my brothers 1999 Firebird formula but also i am gonna put a body kit on it and im just gonna sorta pimp it out like im ognna put rims and a sound system in there and i just want some speed ot back all that up so its not jsut a show car. Any ideas of what i could do to acheive that o by the way so far i decided to get a 94' RX-7 tt stock 45,000 milage 13,500$. thanks p.s. any ideas of doing this without spending loads of money?

It should be able to beat your brothers car as it is. You do not necessarily have to have a bigger hp number since your car will be A LOT lighter than his. My fd doesnt have a whole lot of mods and I beat almost any stock v8 that I have encountered.

Also, to prevent getting yelled at by some of the others on this forum, I would recommend reading the stickied threads at the top of the forum, and any FAQs you may find. If you do the research, people will go out of their way to help you, but if you just expect them to tell you stuff that you can find REALLY easily, most of them will only flame you (especially since you are young and new). Do a lot of research and know what you are getting into so you dont make the same mistake most teenagers do when they buy this car.

Let me guess. You just turned 18, you're getting your driver's license, you're just learning how to drive, and now you're ready for 340HP, eh?

Here's your recipe for (at least) 340 HP:

*Intake
*Downpipe
*Mid-pipe
*Catback Exhaust
*Intercooler
*1300cc Injectors
*Engine Management (A'PEXi PowerFC, etc.) <--- A MUST w/ the above mods.

Raise boost to ~13PSI.

Now go out and kill yourself.

Drive the car for awhile (like a year at least) at the stock hp levels so you can learn to handle the power before you start modding it. That's my advice.

i agree with the elders. Becareful out there and dont be pressured by other cars that will "definately" test you. Because your car is well under 100k, always do your regular maintanences. Negligence is a major cause for a bad car.
What I would recomend you to do is research more on your cooling system. The last thing you want is to be on the side of the highway with your hood up. So congrats to you and keep up the good work.

Now, on a more serious note, everything speedking said above is true. Those mods will get you atleast 340 HP, but do you need that much so soon?

This is your first car, and you havent even gotten your license yet. This car should probably not be your first car. I recommend a FWD car to start out with mainly because they're safer to drive. Also, this car is extremely touchy, and if treated wrong or abused, something WILL go wrong, and it will cost lots and LOTS of money to fix. You should pick a more cost efficent car. Gas mileage sucks *** with these cars, and on top of everything, it attracts alot of attention from other people wanting to race you or from the cops. Either situation can lead to bad consequences.

Speedking said it right when he said "now go out and kill yourself". Chances are something will happen and you'll either end up in an accident or dead. I'm not trying to be mean, or saying your not responsible, cuz i dont know you, i'm just telling you what i have heard from situations like yours.

It's recommended that you be an experienced driver with this car. Many others will say the same thing.

Please just be careful, and get used to the car before you mod it up.

Oh, and be prepared to get flamed from the forum for not searching and reading up on the info on the board. Threads like this come atleast 7 to 10 a week, and people get tired of the same questions.

GOOD LUCK and BE CAREFUL.

Lastly, read this thread. EVERYTHING on it, and EVERYTHING on the links. It will help you out a great deal if you do purchase a 7.
