Need your opinion
Hey guys as some of you know I am getting my motor rebuilt by Demetrious of Reactive Racing. My only concern is that with what the cost is that Demetrious gave me for the rebuild and port, that is about my max I can go financially. But my one concern is that because my car had been previously overheated, the rotor housings may have been warped. If they are then isn't that like $800 a piece? If so then should I just buy a reman, and let Demetrious pop it, and then port it etc? Any opinons or past experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Depens on how many miles are one your housings and how hot and how long was the car overheated by. My friends housings with 90k on it was oveheated and the seals were gone and the housing didnt look that good. It could have been reused, but i told him that since its out now, might as well spend a little more and do it once and do it right. The rotor housings are like $500-600. Its not worth it to buy a reman motor and then have someone rip it apart and port it, you will have to get new water seals. In my opinions Mazda reman engines are not worth the money or time.

KD Rotary, one of the most respected tuners, RECOMMENDS purchasing a Mazda re-man if the rotor housings are shot. Get your re-man from Malloy Mazda for $1950, it will come with new rotor housings.
For a read up about why you should almost always replace the rotor housings, read here:
