Talking Need for Speed!!!!

All right if I can get this forum to work I'll try asking the question. Anyway I am fairly knew to the RX-7 and though I have been accused of being crazy, I'm not suicidal. However I do wish every bit of speed out of my 93. Now I have heard the Rotary can be mounted with quad turbos. Is this true? Is it feasable, would it make enough impact to be worth it?
Also if it could be mounted to quad turbos, could it instead be rigged to twin supers and twin turbos? Assuming you rig it to where the supers cut off where the turbos activate?

While on that subject which is better for the wuarter mile? Twin turbos or Twin Supers? Thanks

You dont have enough room for all that garbage... I have never seen 4 turbos on a 7, the most I saw was 3. You can put big twins on there though.....

Thanks for that, however should such as things as a battery transplant be done could it be done? Also does anyone know about the feasability of mounting turbos and supers? Also define what you mean by big twins please.

Battery Transplant?
Do you mean relocate the battery, yes you can relocate it to the compartment in the back seat. Big Twins means 2 big Twin Turbos.

KISS(Keep it simple) Why would you ever want to mess around with quad turbos or twin turbos + twin superchargers? You'd spend a boat load of money trying to accomplish something that can be accomplished for alot cheaper without all the messy plumbing. A better thing to do would be to start with how much HP you want out of your 7, how many times a week you want to be able to drive it, etc.

mechanically theres no possible way the car could power quad turbos. first off learn about the internals of your rotary, and learn em well. you have two intake ports and two exhaust ports. any car that runs over 2 turbos, and the only ones ive heard of are the bugatti veyron, and a ford GT concept car each have a V formation to the engine, well the bugatti is called a W (just two narrowly fused v8s). the exhaust ports, 12 on the ford, were then devided up into 4 groups of 3, two groups per bank of the V and each group was manifolded into a turbo. Same on the bugatti, except each group is comprised of 4 exhaust ports. keep in mind that these are extremely large displacement engines that eat through tons of gas, and move lots of exhaust, so they have no trouble spooling these turbos.

our engines on the other hand...little 1.3 liters with 2 exhaust ports. while they function completely differently then a piston driven engine they simply dont have the means to power more then two turbos, and our stock twin turbos function vastly different then other twin turbo cars. no one makes an after market TT kit for us becuase of the way the stock turbo housing and manifold works. both turbos sit in one huge housing and instead of waste gating exhaust from the first to the second turbo throughout the cars rpm range to spool our cars use vacuum hoses (either 76 or 78 to be exact) to channel exhaust or air pressure to engage and dissengage the turbos. ive looked at many diagrams of them in the mazda rx-7 shop book, and the turbos even share some of the same hookups and chambers inside of their single or "fused" housing. our cars function nothing like other turbo cars of their time, so its not really fair to compare them mechanically to other cars. maybe this is one of the points that draws me and all of us to this car, its a very eccentric piece of automotive engineering.

oh nice, cant say ive heard of one, but with a little engenuity. i can definetely see it on a 20b but im not sure how it would work on a 13b. does one turbo spool of one exhaust port, then the other 2 daisy chain through waste gates or... i dunno exactly. love to read a tech article on it, if you have any info on it id love to see it. thanks for the heads up.

...I'm at home, but I'll have to search through about 10000 pages of Hyper Rev magazine to find it. I don't think there is a triple turbo 13B, but I know there is a triple turbo 20B...Possibly axia...can't remember
