Need some help here guys!
Ok iv had my FD RX7 for alittle over a year and about 3 weeks ago i rebuilt the engine,After 2 days of driving it i got into boost (10psi) and i loss a corner seal .Now i have to pull the engine back out and fix the problem BUT i was also thinking of throwing a 2JZ in to it...I have a SC300 with a built 2J and about 6 months ago i got a spare 2jz and its just laying around not being used...I have a welder so i can fab all the mounts without any problems and ill ship it to turbo dave to do the wiring part (350)...I guess im looking for someone to talk me out of it because i love the 13b but i think in the long run a 2jz is a better engine...

The 2jz is a tough engine that has the potential to make heaps of power, but that dosent make it a better engine for an FD.
2jz's are too heavy, long and tall for an FD.(not saying it wont fit) You will screw up your weight distribution and no doubt raise the center of gravity of the car.
Put it this way, the 2JZ is not going to make your car "faster" - more power perhaps but "faster" in anything but a straight line, no.

IMO the 13B belongs in the 7. It's funny to see the faces of my co-workers and friends when I explain a rotary engine to them.
I would agree that the 2JZ is a stouter, more robust engine.
Both have pros and cons. Personally I would never do a piston swap, but lots of guys have done it with success (speaking more of the LS swap).
Choice is yours.
On another note. Might look into why the engine lost a seal.
Your post said you got into 10psi on the 2nd day after a rebuild? Did you have any sort of break-in period?
I just finished up my rebuild a couple of months ago. Got about 400 miles on the engine and have only touched 2 psi constantly keeping an eye on ARF's and temps.
Car is running like a champ.
Seems like a lot of guys on this forum have made the 13B into a pretty reliable engine with the correct mods and tuning.

Well making it faster is not really the point, more power?maybe...My thing is im a huge gearhead and i like messing around with engines...The 13b is great and all but just thinking about having to rebuild every 2years or sooner...I drive my SC300 hard sometimes and it just seems like a waste having a FD and worrying about blowing the engine if you drive it too hard...Its not going to be taking to the track, just driving it to work maybe 2-3 times aweek...

If you're blowing your engine every 2 years for driving to hard, then that has nothing to do with the engine itself. 95% of blown engines are caused by a bad rebuild, overboost from a bad setup, and so on.
If the engine was built well, and you have the supporting mods to hold the power you're trying to make, a rotary will last you as long as you need it to. Is a piston engine more robust? Absolutely, but anybody who does a piston swap because they say rotaries are too unreliable don't know what they're talking about.
My current engine has about 40k+ miles running at 15psi at high 11 afr's and is still as strong as ever, and it was my daily driver for over a year.

I daily drive my FD, have done for almost 3 years now.
I often beat on my car, it sees redline every day.
Quite honestly, blowing up my engine is the last thing i worry about. I dont step on the gas and think in the back of my head "aww man my engine may blow up".
im more worried about my car not starting because i need to change the brushes in my starter, or my window getting stuck down or something lol
something is wrong if it just breaks...you should be able to rev the **** out of it to 10k rpm everyday if you want.

Well i may just try to rebuild it and be more careful and see how it goes...Its funny because about 4 years ago i had a FC 89 T2 with 148k and i beat the **** out of it and never had any problems and i was running a big T4 turbo untuned @15psi....i had it for 2 year and the only thing i did was plugs and oil change..But it seems like the engine in the FD is always getting getting a bad rep.

OP, please review the forum rules for thread titles.
https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/how-get-best-use-forum-911608/
As far as your debate goes, from what I have read it seems a 2JZ is just what you need....
*NEVER use “HELP” or “EMERGENCY” in the title of the post. If you have an emergency, call 911. This forum is NOT for emergencies. If you need “help”, post a proper descriptive title of your problem. Moderators are going to DELETE threads that have titles like “I need help!”, “Help me!”, “Need help quick!” without prejudice!.
