Need some advise on fuel odor

Cam just installed 850's and 1600 injectors on my car. I pulled the car into the garage and let it cool down. Closed the door and let it sit over night. I woke up this morning and the garage stinks like raw fuel. Is this normal when installing new injectors? i have no leaks of fuel coming from the engine bay. And theres no fuel on the ground. Maybe they were put in wrong?

maybe one is stuck open and leaking into the engine? when you start it does it seem like alot of smoke at first? The FSM has a way to test for leaks by pressurizing the system then checking after like 10 mins if it the rail held pressure. You need a fuel pressure gauge. Was the car tuned or the ECU adjusted for the larger injectors?

Might have spilled some fuel in your engine bay.

Injector leaks can fill the pocket between the LIM and the top of the engine block. This is an extremely dangerous place to have liquid fuel hanging out.

I recommend that you pull the UIM and pressurize the fuel system. Do not start the car. Be very careful using a hang light or any other ignition source.

+1

Definitely find the source of the gas smell before driving the car anywhere.

Need some advise

I just got RX-7's stores ultimate fuel system put in on my car. And the manic that installed everything said it was all good. However I was helping out also and watched him leave ( not sure) 2-3 steel lines exposed. I asked him do they need to be covered or hoses hooked up? And he said no they are fine.

Now When I got back from the shop and parked my car in the garage I noticed a strong fuel smell from under the hood. The crazy thing is that even with the car off and the garage aired out it still smells. Even if I open the garage for 2 hours then close it, 30 min's later it will begin to smell again.

I didn't notice any fuel at all leaking from under the hood or on the ground. Can my FPD be bad? Im thinking that this is the cause of it.

Thanks Jason

sounds like he didn't reconnect the charcoal cannister at all or incorrectly; it's a small cannister that will collect the fumes from the gasoline and prevent them from venting into the atmosphere thus helping fuel economy and the utter nasty smell of fuel in the car.

Thumbs up

There are two types of Pressuring your fuel system.

First type is: With Key ON engine OFF. (first click with key) You will be able to hear your fuel pump buzz and primed the fuel system.

Second type is: Fuel pressure with Key ON Engine ON. Fuel pressure while engine running.

Like someone stated earlier, since you're leaking fuel somewhere, it is strongly suggested that you DO NOT RUN your engine.

Hope this helps.
