IIRC, the downpipe/midpipe is of cheap quality and has fitment issues, especially where it bolts on to the turbo manifold. In addition, the downpipe will only work when used with the midpipe. It cannot be used as a standalone downpipe with a stock or high-flow cat because the flanges are not in the correct places. It can be "made" to work, but things will have to be modified to get this done.

YMMV. This is based upon a friends experience with the "E-Bay Downpipe" . I'll let others chime in if this is incorrect.

I have no idea about the exhaust.

Good luck,

-bill

Cheap parts generally = cheap quality and/or fitment problems, hence the cheap price on them. I'd spend a little more $$ and get parts that commonly used with no problems. The HKS and M2 downpipes are known for ease of installation and quality.

As far as a boost controller, my preference is the Blitz SBC-id, but it will depend on how much $ you have to throw around. The Greddy Profecs are nice as well.

first off...if he's having someone else do the work...DO NOT get them...I got one of the cheap-o ebay down & mid pipe combo's a while back and it didn't save much money after the time and pain in the *** it was to install....there ARE fitment issues...

Second...BEWARE of installing a midpipe without an ECU upgrade...tell your friend to come on this forum and do some research before he mods his car...i would hate to see someone destroy ANOTHER FD...

Here is the best single piece of advice I can give your friend: if he hasn't had the time to do the research on this car, then he should not be bolting ANYTHING onto it. If his intent in getting a boost controller is to turn the boost up for more power, then he *really* needs to do the research first, else he will end up with a blown engine.

If I read this wrong, then I apologize.

Good luck,

-bill

This is WAY more important to your friend than the advice on the parts. Tell your friend to hold his horses and do some research before he goes hog wild looking for more horsepower.

Has any of you guys have actual experience with THIS downpipe? You guys know just because most of these cheap downpipes are sold with a midpipe doesn't make them the same. I recently purchased one from this guy. It's from megan racing. If you do a search you will find people only had to alter little bit or none at all (without using the mp).

be very careful with what exhaust you use, the FD is the hottest car i have ever felt. A cheap muffler will last maybe a few months if your lucky. Get a brand thats you know works. PLus you dont know what the muffler looks like once its on the car, How do you know if it looks nice or not or if it hangs down too far or stick to the left/right too far.

I've honostly found out that buying new parts from ebay is the worst thing you can do. If its used thats one thing, or if it happens to be a real part sold by an individual thats okay, but all these weird knock-off brands are very sub par in build and fitement (as already stated). You get what you pay for. You'll regret it, and in the end, it would have been cheaper to just buy a quality exhaust than buy a cheapo one, throw it out, then buy a good one.
