i second having one made, almost every single AST i have seen was made of pure **** materials. they're always flimsy as **** and just as unreliable as the stockers, if not more.
why hasn't there been a company yet to make a real decent version? it's aluminum, not gold... build it better.

most all of them come with the "LevRvent" caps, the caps are also junk to keep things consistent.
pettit mainly as well with many others following have weak cap necks, they warp and pull, the cap then cannot hold pressure to the appropriate PSI and eventually start to allow coolant to push into the overflow. run the 16PSI non lever cap and you may get by for a while but the construction is still pure crap.

Tri-point AST uses the stock size cap rated at 16psi, not a vent cap. The neck is cast aluminum, not stamped so it is very sturdy. The nipples have been beaded so the hoses do not leak and the over-flow is threaded to allow optional fittings. Nothing flimsy about it at all.

^Hey it's your car and there isn't anything wrong with keeping it. All I can tell you is that my car experienced coolant overflow for years... The sucky part is that bad coolant seals were always in the back of my mind. It turned out to be the stupid aftermarket AST. And yeah it's there to help when you are burping the system of air bubbles, but that's it.
What you really have to wonder about is the very interesting shape of the OEM AST. It's shaped in that manner for a reason and it isn't for fitment.

Yeah I been having that issue actually. But did champagne test and car failed so I'm tearing it apart. Would have been something if it was because of aftermarket AST. I'm deciding if I should delete it after rebuild, it would be nice to simplify system but I feel like it should be there too.

Yeah we triple tested it and Definetely failed. But completely weird. No white smoke, well a little bit once but went away. Spark plugs dry, no bubbly oil, pulled perfect vacuum. Second thing that was weird was that I was losing a bit of coolant overnight. Oh well, coming apart already. Sorry for thread jack

Our OEM AST lasted 98K miles. I replaced it with the latest factory version, which is identical in shape but is a "B" revision using updated plastic material. (8K so far on the new one.)
