Need info please..

Ok,

Well im new here and had a little look around the site.

I have found a Series 8 that im looking at currently and was wanting thoughts and any added info you can enlighten me with.

mods don't really matter much to the price, unless you really like the mods that are done to it. Condition of the car is the most important thing. Most of us won't be able to comment on the price as we don't live down under.

I suggest you find a local person familiar with FDs to help you check it out. Buyings guides are in the FAQ thread.

Now, it's a 2000...we didn't get those here so I have no idea what the asking prices are for them in your area. Look around and find out what a low-mileage stock 2000 FD would cost in your area...figure the mods to that car probably raise its value a few thousand over stock...not much though. Modifications are never seen as investments, and the seller should never assume they will get what they paid, and you shouldn't assume you have to pay what they spent.

Hey,

Im toying with the idea of buying a FD for road use as well.

Just did a quick search series 8 seem to sell from 30,000 to 38,000 from what I found. In saying that however there were quite a few that had mods (not as many as you have listed) and they dont stray to far away from the 30 to 38k range.

I personally would not spend 42,000 for the mods it has done as a great majority of them are cosmetic, plus the fact that i would much rather buy one that is standard as at least then you know it hasnt had to much of a hard life.

G'day mate :P aussy style haha. I'm from Australia Victoria and seen the car on carsales... very very nice FD. Its very clean... well done... I think 42 is pretty good. Try and get him down more if you can... 40 maybe? Considerng stock FD say 93" are going for what high 20's these days... I was the lucky one and picked my FD for 20k with 50,000kms . I woud suggest a compression test though... just to be safe... but good luck!!! Where abouts in Australia are you from?

I'm with Mr squigge though.... I would buy a Stock FD... far more reliable as well... as soon as you see mods... the harder the car gets driven.

From South Australia... Yeah i wouldnt mind a stock one but i dont see the point spending the dollar on extras that are already on it, and if they need a rebuild then getting driven too hard by the owner wouldnt make much difference in the end. not sure, its alot of money to throw at a car especially when im only 18, also gota take into account the insurance, fuel costs, parts if anything goes wrong, its in WA so i gotta get an inspection and change anything that needs to be changed due to laws being differet <----prob why going a stock on would be cheaper but i love the look of it, and 300rwhp at 12psi twin turbo goodness.

I'm also 18, and went for a series 6 instead of the series 8 because of the price. Sure performace is different (i've got a series 8 engine ) but it all comes down to the way your going to drive it. Fuel is pretty bad and my FD is stock... so I don't know what to expect with 300rwhp. In my opinion, its more satisfying to say you'v customised your FD yourself. At the end of the day its worth it. Don't drive it hard so you won't have to rebuild anytime soon. Find a series 6 with a rebuilt engine? Than you have plenty of money spare for maintance etc... keep us updated... i'm interested lol... good luck mate.
