Need help: Spark plug wire set

been looking at which spark plug wires to get ... i think i narrowed my search to

Taylor
Spark Plug Wires, 8mm, Spiro-Pro, Red, Universal Fit, 90 Degree Plug Boot, 4 Cylinder, Set

my question is .. should i get the ones with 90 degree plug boot? or 180 degree? also i dunno which cylinder number to go with .. theres 8, 6, and 4 .. since fds dont have cylinders this is confusing me .. i only see 4 wire plugs .. so im thinking going with 4 cylinder option is this correct?

Out of curiosity....Do you know if the impedance across these wires are within mazda spec?

Good luck with that!

FYI, I have had numerous problems with Taylor wires in the past. I would not recommend them.

I had the spiro pro and they worked fine, even with an HKS Twin Power amp. However I did not put many miles on the car maybe 4k.

I had the 8mm spiro-pro on my FD a while ago, and one of the secondary wires had an arcing problem. I sent it back, they confirmed it was a defect and replaced it. About 4 months later, a similar problem surfaced on the other trailing wire. Again, they replaced it. After that, I just sold the wires and replaced them with NGK. No problems since.

I also attempted to try the "409" series. I had a set custom built for my 2.2L turbo Dodge Shelby Charger. They screwed up though, and the wires they sent were not even close to what I asked for. I ended up sending them back for a refund.

I'm definately not saying that you will have a bad experience with them. I think most people have had absolutely NO problems with Taylor wires. So in all honesty, you probably won't have an issue. I'm just saying that my experience was slightly different.

I put on new NGK's every year as they are the stock wire set from Mazda and the fit is always perfect. I even buy them over the counter at a local foreign car parts store for just under $40. Since I race so often I replace the wires once a year and the plugs once or twice.

Why do you feel the need to "upgrade" spark plug wires?

Yeah, I would say NGK, Racing Beat or mazdaspeed would be better choices than an average USDM plug wire company. The FD is a special car, and requires special attention to being modified. I would not linger too much outside of the OEM, JDM, or Rotary Tuners for your aftermarket parts selections.

Hope that helps.... =)

Sorry if this doesn't pertain to the stock wires, but what wires (with correct impedance) would be good for the relocation of the coils to the fender side?
