Need help with part numbers for vacuum lines

Trying to repair vacuum leaks on the two lines shown in attached picture but can't find a reference to them in any of the pages of FSM or the Parts Catalog. Before you suggest I contact Ray Crowe, I tried that. He sent me two lines based on my verbal explanation. They turned out to be incorrect. I want to be able to provide better information before I order a 2nd time.

I think one is a 6mm and the other an 8mm. If you email him that pic, I'm sure he can be more helpful.

The parts diagram shows one of them clearly: position 20-345A #1, p/n N3A1-20-345

The other one is not shown on the parts diagram. Dunno how to help Ray figure it out.

Thanks for the heads up on sizes. I can confirm with a spare inlet elbow if I can't get the items from Ray. I plan on sending a pic with my request for the next order.

I prefer to use OEM parts. At least for these items.

Thanks dgeesaman. I figured one of the experience folks like you could at least find my first reference. I was able to find the item you referred to in the parts catalog. I also found one of them on the vacuum routing diagram but like you mentioned, the other one is not pictured. As gracer7 mentioned, I bet he can find it if I send the picture.

Use silicone vacuum hose. Rubber will harden beacause of the ehat in the area and next time you need to replace them or take the inlet apart you will risk cracking a nipple off. Even if you can buy those, they are probably way overpriced for what they are.

I second that. I replaced all of my rubber hoses including the ones in that picture with silicone from hose techniques about 10 years ago and they all still look like new. The original hoses were all rock hard and cracking for the most part. I've heard good things about viton vacuum hose as well.

Not to mention, when you buy a new OEM vacuum hose, it's probably 10 years old.

technomentor,

Attached below is part of an illustration titled "System Diagram" from the 1993 RX-7 Service Highlights Manual (page F-3). If you look at the intake air path to the front turbo from the air cleaner housing and follow the path downward, you will see two filtered atmospheric air taps, which are the two ports in your picture. For some reason only one of these taps is shown in my 1994 RX-7 workshop manual (page F-84), and I don't know why; my engine has the same two ports. However, this second path is shown on page F-124 in the Positive Crankcase Ventilation section. Anyway, one of the taps supplies filtered fresh air to two solenoid valves: the one for the wastegate control, and the one for the turbo control actuator. The other tap (not shown in the '94 manual) runs to a port on the oil filler pipe. I think that one is there to supply replacement air for whatever is lost from the "crankcase" through the PCV valve into the intake manifold. Also, in case there is a positive pressure in the "crankcase," this path could also relieve that pressure.

You can see that neither hose will see either vacuum or pressure, just the output of the intake air filter.

Without tracing hardline.....diagram 1380, position 20-346 - N3A1-20-346, seems a likely candidate for the second line.
