Unhappy Need help, oil pressure going high...

I need a little help.

About a month ago, I took my FD to Mazda to have a serious oil leak fixed. They said it was the oil lines running to the turbos that needed to be replaced. I didn't have a problem with it, but of course they charged me for dropping the engine to get to it.

Anyway, I got the car back and immediately noticed that my oil pressure was topping the guage under acceleration, not even hard acceleration. Also, the car started leaking oil again. Took it back, and the repaired the Front Cover seal and handed it back.

Next day, I drove it, did a hard acceleration from about 10-45mph. Oil pressure still shot up the gauge and it blew the oil pan seals. Now, the car is leaking oil again but it's now making a "reedy" sound during acceleration (sounds like a clarinet with a bad reed).

Took it back, this time they said there was a bad (incorrect) oil filter. So they replaced the oil filter with a Mazda filter, re-sealed the oil pan.

Got back this morning, the oil pressure is still going high, the sound during acceleration is still there. I'll check later today to see if the oil pan seal is busted again.

The engine is a remanufactured engine about 2 years old with about 15,000 miles on it.

Anyone have any ideas about the oil pressure or the reedy sound during acceleration? I'm just getting so frustrated about all this.

I did check and there isn't any oil leaking at the moment so the seals are holding. I didn't drive it again as the reedy noise just sounds entirely too bad to be healthy for the car.

Any ideas on the oil pressure and sound?

do you had any resolution on this...

Hi,

I am curious whether you have any resolution on this problem. I just got the news today from my mechanic that I have the exact same symptoms. Please let me know if you find what the problem is/was?

Thanks....

Erdem

Actually, as old as this message is, I *should* be getting the car back today.

4 Mazda dealers told me that was normal oil pressure for a FD. So I found another mechanic to take a look at it. They are replacing the Oil Pressure Sending unit. He said it was bad and also leaking. The mechanic is very confident that it's what is causing the erratic pressure readings.

I'm just hopeful that is the only problem since it's relatively inexpensive to fix.

Hope that helps. Also, here is something to take a look at:

http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_pressure.html

I printed that page out and give it to the mechanic just in case it might spark some other ideas if the Oil Pressure Sender wasn't the problem.

Thumbs down

We replaced the sending unit on mine and the oil pressure is still too high.

Its reading 120 on my stock gauge with my foot on the gas and about 50-60 at idle.

What else could it be?

Wow! This is an old thread!

Did you get any oil modifications with the port job?

ported the oil wells(not sure what these are called) a little.

They also coated the oil pump internals.

I'm gonna try the thermal pellet. Found some info on it here: http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_pressure.html
