Need Help With My Project CAR!!!

"NEED HELP" I'm out of idea now!!! I have a 1993 RX-7 with T78 Turbo in it. The engine is a very high performance engine, nothing in the Engine is stock and has about 500HP in it. I don't what is wrong with it. Something kept eating up the battery and the car keep on dying, i have replace about 3 battery already. When the battery die it reset the ECU back to stock. Once the ECU is reset then the car sound very shitty. Once I got Engine to start running and when I push on the gas pedal or rev it up just a little....it has alot of backfire and it seem like the car is gonna die. My guess is that there might be a short somewhere in the car or something wrong with the electrical. Anyone know what might cause this problem please help me. Anymore info about the car please let me know.

Resets the ECU back to stock ? I hope you are not using a modified ECU . Check the grounding . What type of battery are you using ?

Just could be as simple as a bad alternator. I would check all the wiring, those could be bad as well.

what ecu are you using again? in anycase, something might be shorting. test the ghost voltage with a multimeter, it should be about 0.24amps.

do a search to get the procedure on how to do this

CAN THIS PROBLEM THAT MY CAR HAVING BE MAJOR PROBLEM OR JUST SOMETHING SMALL? ALSO DOES ANYBODY KNOW ANYONE WHO CAN FIND THE SHORT I WILL PAY HIM. I LIVES NEAR SACRAMENTO AREA.

I hope you're not resetting the ecu to stock, cuz if you say you are running 500hp, then that could mess things up badly. If you are just unpluggin everything and plugging it back in, than that it not resetting it (If you are running an Apexi Power FC). It is running bad at idle because it has to relearn, Let it sit at idle for 10 minutes than another 10 minutes under electrical load. It should start to run better. If I were you, though, I would take it to a professional.

That should be "dark current" instead of "ghost voltage"

easiest way it to use a light tester or an amp meter.

put it between the positive battery terminal and the positive cable.

There should be a current.

start pulling fuses until the light goes out.

that is if you have a short.

i would say bring your car to a local shop like tires plus or tire kingdom and pay 20bucks for a charging system checkup....its a computer that checks all the charging system components and after it is done checking it will tell the mechanic what the problem is...trust me its worth it....i work at tires plus and this always solves electrical problems that we have. Also i dont think your ecu is resetting when you unplug your battery i have the same setup as you t78 with the apex'i ecu and commander and the ecu does not reset when power is lost. Take your car to a local rx7 shop and have the mapping on the ecu checked out....sounds like you bought this car for cheap and didnt realize what you got yourself into. The car might need to be tunned to run properly...well good luck and i hope this helps out

oh and sounds like your engine is only running on one rotor i had the same problem with my engine....started up and then would be hard to rev and would backfire a lot.....that means the engine is most likely running on one rotor....i would say it could be a stuck seal or bad compression on one of the rotor housings....what i did to fix mine was i revved the car to redline because i knew i had just had the engine rebuilt and i couldnt accept the fact that i could have blown the engine already...and just as i had thought it was a stuck seal and once i redlined it once the other rotor created compression again and my car stopped backfiring and stalling if you need any help just pm me...peace out and good luck

I was just thinking the same thing too.
But I think it has to do with a short circuit.
