need help figuring out how to get to a vac hose(ypipe to engine)

there is a hose that goes from the ypipe a nipple faces down and it curves around into the engine i have tried to reach it but it is impossible to get to what do i have to remove to get to this damn hose..

by the way this my last hose to replace so whenever i get this done i will have completed a 2 week task only able to work on it 3 afternoons a week so its beeen 6 afternoons..

heres diagram of hoses in case its the yellow hose on the metal nipple pointing downward.

Are you having trouble getting to it from the ypipe or the motor end of it? Take the smog pump off.

OUCH!

I hate to say it, but that hose is a BITCH to get to. I was changing my turbos...and broke that one. It caused me to do the entire hose job.

You have to remove the extension manifold, which you should have off if you did the vacuum hose job.

Next, I would say take out the solenoid rack. Then take out the air pump.

Then, you have to move around a bunch of hoses and stuff....and you then you can barely see it. It actually goes into the "block" on the other side (toward the driver's side) of the fuel rail.

that one was a bitch to get to, even with the smog pump removed. i ended up having to remove my fuel rail to change the pulsation dampener, so there was a little more room to work with.

damn, you are lucky you are about to be done soon. i have been working on mine on about the same schedule as you. i have been getting set back by so many other broken parts its not even funny. okay, maybe just a little funny to you guys, but not to me...

I don't remember having any trouble at all with that hose, but I also had my fuel rails, solenoid rack, smog pump, and acv all disconnected. You'll probably have to remove some/all of that.

i am having trouble getting to it from the motor end....

i have to get the fuel rail off any gaskets to replace i was told to take off the Lower intake manny.........??

actually i will be runnin once i get my y-pipe in i ahve to wait for a gasket for that its the gasket to the 2nd air intake pipe that goes to sec. turbo i was not able to wiggle it out like everyone said....


all togather in the hose job a broke 1 check valve and 1 solenoid....
it wasnt that bad i also changed spark plug wires and also spark plugs themselves......i cut the stock plug wires and damn it just pooped in the new wires in no prob....i heard it took 6hrs.. you just wiggle the hoses in there by twistin and turnin and wallah they are in i didnt even take off the oil intake chamber or ignition coils.....

but damn i felt that hose i am left with is going to be a bitch i am wonderin is there any way i can just buy a hose connector from hardwhare store and connect the stock rubber to it and then on the other end connect a silicon hose..would that work or what if i try to connect silicon hose over it and secure it really good... the stock rubber hose just cracked..i really dont wanna take off too many damn things again i am almostr done?? help

just replace the whole hose man, it would be a shame if you went through all this work and that was the next hose to fail. it should be easier with the fuel rail off if you are removing it anyway. you probably wanna replace the injector o-rings while it is out.

i dont have the fuel rail off...

i havent taken that off......do i need to is it possible to get to it without taking off the fuel rail.....

You don't need to take off your lower intake, unless you need to change the gasket (I'm in the middle of this job right now... I'm getting the parts tomorrow ). Anyway, to take off the lower intake, you gotta remove the turbos, downpipe, and a bunch of other crap. You should just be able to get at that hose easily by removing the fuel rails, solenoid rack (you probably already have it out), and smog pump (you probably have that one out too).

As far as gaskets to replace if you remove the rail, you should probably replace the rubber insulators (2 on the secondary rail, and 2 on the primary rail). And, hell, if you have it torn apart that far, you might as well replace the injector o-rings. But if you do, be prepared to spend around $50 to $75 just for those seals.

You DO NOT have to remove the fuel rail to get to that hose.

Just the Extension manifold, air pump, and solenoid rack. You can get it if you fish around and use some ingenuity.

The rubber insulators are these o-ring looking things that appear to seal (or insulate?) the fuel rail against the block and intake manifold. The injector o-rings that I was talking about are only accessible if you pull out the fuel injectors. There are two per injector.

I remember that hose too. I didn't have to remove the fuel rails to get to it.

My question is, what in the hell is it for?

I have yet to have found a purpose for it. It's a boost line, which means it's a potential boost loss. Anyone know why it shouldn't just be blocked off?
