Need Help blown motor?

1994 RX7: How do I kow if I blew my engine? The other day I was driving and was around 6500 RPM when the car just shut off. I tried turning it on but it would not turn over. After many tries it finally did with a violent shake and I had to keep my foot on the gas to get the car home or the car would turn off. Once I got home I checked oil and it was full but when I opened up the oil cap there was some smoke, not like water boiling but like cigarette smoke kind of thick. I checked the coils, and wires and all checked out. I have been doing the tranny since then so have not had a chance to troubleshoot further untilI put the tranny back on. Any ideas? I am goign to check the plugs. I hope it is either fuel or spark related and not the motor. I use the protekR in the fuel for extra protection. I want to know before I put the tranny back.

man...i'm sorry to say this but it sounds like ur running on one rotor. when my engine went i too had to keep on the gas or the car would shut off. after a compression test we found that the front rotor had 0 lbs. com. and the rear rotor had about 40lbs com. that sucks dude

Thats what I was afraid of. When me and my dad were troubleshooting I told hi it sounded like it was running on one rotor. It is making a nasty sound. Does it mean tha I blew and apex while drving and this caused the engine to shut off?

Ouch
I feel so bad for you. I think your motor is gone, but I'm not too sure because I never had that happen to me. Good luck with everything.

just ordered a reman motor from Malloy Mazda. $2100 shipped to Tx with new extra parts and just return mine. Looks like I am about to start a really big project. I had my tranny off since I got a reman one along with a clutch good time to take the engine off. I guess this will be almost a new car. New engine and tranny. These cars sure now how to get to your wallet fast!!

"I think Tommy is talking about removing the gasket for the Oil pan and just using silicone to seal the Oil pan on.
This seems to seal better....
But if I'm wrong please elaborate.... thanks jc.
