Talking Need a hand troubleshooting

This one should be simple but it is one of those problems that will be time consuming as hell unless one of you guys have had the same problem and can point me in the right direction.

I have no power to in the inside of my car. I took a test light to check the battery to see if the battery was good. I also checked the battery with my multimeter and the battery is all good. The crazy thing is that I left the alligator clip of the test light hooked up to the negative post on the battery and while the test light was laying on the plenum the damn light was on!!

So, to make a long story short, every piece of metal under the hood to include the frame rails and anything else that will make you laugh has current running through it. Now, common sense will say that I have something grounded out that should not be. I just want to know if any of you have had the same problem or if you have a pretty good guess of where I should check. I think I am just goig to have to open up all of the wire looms one at a time and check for continuity on every power wire until I find the culprit.

That is step one. Step two is, what has cut the power to the inside of my ride? Is there a fusible link or a Master Fuse (not the main fuse under the hood) that protects the ECU and all of the fragile electronics? Thanks in advance for your help.

Let me get this straight: when you touch the (+) end of the tester to the frame, and the (-) end to the (-) terminal on the battery, the light turns on? Check it with a multimeter, find the voltage between the battery's negative terminal and the frame please.

It's a good idea to start downloading the service manual, find the diagrams, and start checking things one by one.

I should have done that as soon as I saw it but I took the battery out as soon as I saw this. I don't know how long this has been this way but I know it isn't right. A buddy of mine called and told me to pull the driver side inner fender well out to inspect the wires in there. I did not they ran the wires in there so I will do that after work tomorow. Any other suggestions.

The fender liners are a good place to start, especially if your car is lowered, has been in a wreck, or you've installed aftermarket wheels.

Without more info on your situation, I can't think of any more advice. The FSM will tell you more than I can.

After checking the fender liner...

Pull all the fuses in the main box by the pos terminal. (You'll have to loosen the bolts holding in the main 120A fuse.

Put them in one by one and repeat the test light test. When it comes on, you've found the branch of circuit the short is on.

Take a look at the wiring diagram - if you take your time and read it carefully, you'll find it's all in there.

Good stuff you all. I bought the car totalled and put another front clip on there from another 93 that was wrecked in the ***. The car has been lowered and I have 18x9s all the way around. I will definitely try the fender liner, Then I will try the fuse method. Is the wiring diagram anywhere in a thread on this forum? I checked everywhere on the internet and every place sent me to ebay to buy a service manual. THanks again guys and I will be sure to post the solution whenever I find it so if anyone reads this in the future when they have the same problem, they will know how to fix it. Peace
