I just solved my mystery leak (or at least one of them!). I was leaking power steering fluid from a hose under the pump. I don't know if the hose clamps on there were oem - they are a funky screw clamp rather than the usual spring clamp. In any case both clamps were loose and fluid was seeping out. I think you have to drop the A/C compressor to get to this hose.

Symptoms were obviously driver side of the block covered in grime and a drip off the bottom of the pan that I had just written off as a leaky oil pan.

Leaks "further back" can be deceiving since a leak up high can get onto the trays and run way back from where the leak originated... but you probably knew that!

As one of the previous posts said, probably the clutch (brake fluid), but it could also be transmission lube, depending on what's in there.

Thanx zullo, I've had a slight power steering leak for a long *** time and haven't been able to find it. I'll take a look there, maybe I'll finally get this bitch taken care of.

Zullo, you made my day. Checked my car and it was leaking in that exact spot. Those are some weird *** clamps. Thank god I was able to get to them from the side so i didn't have to drop the compressor. I just changed the clamps out and cranked em down hard, have my fingers crossed this takes care of the leak. Man I'm relieved I finally found it, thanx to you.
