My X-Mas present is Here!
Well, after a month that my girl ordered my gift, it has finally arrived!
Putting it on tomorrow. Should I get hood pins? The latch seems real sturdy, but don't know if I should risk it.

Niiiice. Who made the hood? (VIS, Rotary Extreme, ect?) I want one!
Let us know how it fits and get pics when you get it on PLEASE!!!!
Even though I don't care much for their look, I'd say hood pins are a must. I've seen way too many smashed aftermarket hoods from a result of coming unlatched.

sweet. I am thinking about getting a ks hood too. Is it a replica...I have seen some on ebay. Pricing? Also can you tell me if there are any fitment issues..I hate those gaps some aftermarket hoods leave. Don't risk it and get the pins! you never know....

If it's a VIS hood you should have great fitament. I had one on my old Civic for about 2 years with no problem (i know this isn't what you guys want to hear but good fitament is good fitament). I'll be ordering their KS hood after a year in the military.
(P.S. You're girlfriend is a gift from god, keep her around for awhile )

Nice. I've got the Vis one mounted up right now, fitment is good, although I needed to recess some of the CF near the latch, and its a little less then perfectly level at the moment (the driver's side is like 1/4" high, passenger side about 1/4" too low). I'm going to put hood pins on mine before I do any racing, I don't even like going all that fast on the freeway with it.

To answer some of your questions. Yes it is a replica, yes it is a VIS hood, yes it was bought off of Ebay (carbon creations). The quality is great, but I still don't know what it looks like with it on. I've seen many carbonfiber hoods before and this one is by far the best quality I've seen. It has rolled edges, carbonfiber underneath the hood itself (around the latch), the latch is almost as good as the OEM hood (very sturdy/strong compared to previous hoods I've seen), it has tons of clear coat and supposedly it protects against UV rays to prevent fading. I'll get it put on tonight after work, and if it's not too dark out I'll take some pics.

Also how hard is it to install? I've never put on a hood before, but I know it's not rocket science. I guess just 2 bolts on each side, but I don't know if I have to mess on with the latch part that's actually on the car. Any imput I greatly appreciate it.

yeah just take it slowly and keep checking the fitment and adjusting accordingly. post pix when its on!
oh yeah and its 10000 times easier if you have a buddy helping you out. Otherwise it can get really difficult.

Yeah, I figured it wouldn't be too hard, for crying out loud I've done much harder things I bought some hood pins and I was wondering if those lil screws are self tapping screws.

The hood is a direct bolt on with no mods required, however fitment isn't 100% so you will have the problem described above...the drivers side corner will stick up about 1/4". At highway speeds, this is enough to make me damned nervous. I went immediately and got 2 hoodpins for mine...and so long as they were in use, I never had a problem...plus it fit nicer that way.
The body man that put mine on modified my hood latch, because this hood apparently does not leave room for the safety latch arm. Without asking me, his thinking was that a latch was less expensive than this hood, so he cut the latch, removing the safety latch altogether. Whether or not this was actually necessary, I can't say, but it's done now anyways.
Yes, I do have this exact hood, the VIS KS replica. I actually need another one now, mine has a crack in it...several cracks, actually. Not once, but twice, the hood came up at 40-50mph because some dickbeater friend of mine left it loose...the last time, this included the hood pins PLUS the center latch being left loose.
