Rice is something you eat! IMO, anybody who does anything to their car should be called a ricer so I don't know why we bash each other so much about it?!

I have found that people on this forum, and to some degree any fellow 7 owner, will be the most critical person of your car and your mods, of any person anywhere. When I first posted pics of my car (above) on this forum I caught all kinds of **** from the "purists" who didnt like this mod, or that mod, or those wheels, etc. I could have posted the same pictures on any mustang forum out there and gotten more compliments than I did here. It's not that I really care what other people think, but of all places you'd think this forum would be a safe haven from accusations of something being rice or whatever else.

I actually had an experience with a local 7 owner who walked up to my car, lifted the hood, and proclaimed that it was heavier than the stock hood and therefore wasn't worth having. I haven't weighed the 2 to actually find out, but I personally wouldn't insult anyone, much less a fellow 7 enthusiast, with such a comment. But, that **** abounds on this forum and in this community, so get used to it.

It is your car, you do what you want regardless of what other people tnink, I will be putting my n1 hood along with a Carbon fiber GT wing and still undecided on what kit to get...I would not care what other people think since it is my car...the only thing that I would probably Flame on is the EURO tail lights...I really hate those things....

John,
I am too impatient to wait for Harrison to come back with the rivet gun. I don't know how those things work, but could I possibly screw in the pin holders for now, and then remove the screws and possibly rivet the holders back on using the holes from the screws?

I remember that thread and I agree that fellow 7 owners shouldn't be so insulting of other people's taste, but when you ask for someone's opinion (such as posting a thread with pics of your car) you're going to get it. Just try not to take it personally.

yeah i dont see why not. and the rivet gun is really easy. drill the hole stick the rivetthrough the hood pin and into the hood..... squeeze the handle a couple times and and the excess breaks off leaving nothing behind but the rivet

i have the exact same hood!! except not the replica. I DO have the hood pins just for safety. Fittament is very good on mine. Since it is such a light hood, at speeds and over bumps it bounces up and down. This is why I got the hood pins, for a "just in case" safety net. It is a sweet hood and its really cool to have it in the winter time to see the steam and stuff. The only BAD part is if you didnt get the plastic covers for the vents for when it snows/rains. If its your daily driver, the rain will go through the main vents directly onto the belts and make your car sound like it had thousands of hampsters for an engine. The girl is a keeper by the way!!

For the race circuit and weight reduction the CF hood is a pretty good deal. I'd prefer painted but beauty is in the eye of the beholder so more power to ya. With the OEM alum hood there are buckle/crumple zones so the hood accordion-folds upon frontal impact. From a safety standpoint a CF hood is a guillotine, if it doesn't shatter.

The weight savings as far as the stock hood aren't that great, you're only looking at a few pounds. The venting is always a plus though.

I too have heard that a CF hood can be dangerous in a crash, but I've never heard any stories where someone was actually decapitated or injured because of it.

Hey RotaryResurrection that drivers side corner sticking out sounds annoying. When you put the hood pins on, how did it fit nicer? Sweet car btw, it was previously my Desktop pic.

Looks awesome John. Maybe you can send that rivet gun up with Harrisson? Ok we'll here's the break down of what went on last night. We managed to get it on last night (partially). But I did encounter a bunch of problems. First of all one of the bolts that came on the hood was cross threaded, I guess it left VIS like that. So it was very anoying to get the fitment just right. Then after everything fit nice the hood wouldn't shut. I initially thought it was my intercooler piping (took that off), then maybe my strut bat (took that off), no luck. Turned out that the latch from the hood is a lil bit longer then the stock one so it wouldn't close all the way down for some reason. I ended up taking off the hood latch off the car, I'll be running hood pins anyways. Then after that headache we were ready to put in the hood pins only to see that one of the nuts was missing. So tonight after I get home from work (after 9pm) I'll be able to finish it up.

rey ,

sure when he comes down i'll give it to him. also my latch was adjustable. i took the whole thing apart and redid it with locktite because i just didnt trust it. but it allowed me to shorten the latch a little bit making it fit better. and closer to the bumper. right now there is a small gap in the pictures. but i adjusted the hood and that just isnt so now.

ManGaZeRo yep its a ings+1 hood. i have the entire ings+1 kit sitting in my extra room. along with my friends Kazama kit and his N1 hood. you can see the back of his car (vspecpgt) in one of my pics. and i dont think anyone makes a replica hood yet.

I have the exact same hood pins. I put mine behind the headlights...that's the area that didnt fit really well. I still have the stock latch (modded as noted above) functional in the center as well. The pins are adjusted so that there is enough slack that when you pull the stock hood release, it pops up maybe 1/4", then you release the pins to raise the hood. The pins mainly serve to level and control the corners, which were out of alignment vertically.

I sorta wish they'd made the damn thing 1/4" longer up front, too...I see you have the same gap I suffer from. I wonder why almost all CF hoods are undersized on both dimensions around 1/4"?
