My RX-7

Hey i have a 1993 Mazda RX-7 and iv had it for about 3 or 4 months now and about 2 weeks ago was my first time to ever drive it at night and when i turned on my lights my car started bogging n=down like i was in to high of a gear and i wasnt giving it enough gas so i down shifted and it still did it. So then i went in and got my alternator checked and there was something wrong with and and i got it fixed it quit doing it and after about a month later it started up again doing the same thing and i was just wondering if anyone knew was casues that or why its doing it and how i can get it fixed Thanks Robert

Any chance you are running a large wattage stereo system?

thats what i was thinking. if you have any kinda "system" in your car that uses lots of power then thats a good bet as to why you are killing the alternator. it simply can't keep up with what its trying to do.

try not to triple post.

even though you weren't using it at the time, over time the alternator wears out trying to keep the battery charged and will just finally give out like it sounds like yours did.

i'd suggest getting an Optima yellow top battery and a stronger alternator and your problem should be fixed.

you can usually get Optima yellow top batteries at most places that you can get regular batteries. i've seen them for sale at car audio stores as well like Rogers Sterio. Optima batteries are alot more durable then regular batteries you can buy for your car and thats all thats diffent about them.

you could also consider getting those things.. sorry don't remember what they are called but they store power specifically for use in high wattage stereo systems. Look like big enegizer batteries.

yup, its a capacitor. they're good ideas if you are running a high wattage sound system. they keep the battery from being drained.
