Haha, that would get super annoying.

I think it's a boost leak somewhere that's somehow got something causing it to whissle like that.

i agree wit the boost leak the belt is more of a low rpm thing that gets better when ya get goin. this is at the mid to hight end of gears, and a belt is more highpitched...

Check the hose to the BOV. I had a similar noise and the hose to the BOV just needed to be replaced.

When does the noise happen? At partial throttle? When you lift? Random times?

Kinda sounds like it is related to the air control valve, but not sure. Maybe a split hose.

If you listen to the sound clips, it sounds like it's happening while he's accelerating. I had the same symtoms, and it was the air building up in the BOV line escaping and making a horrible noise.

Mine only happened when the engine warmed up (when the hose got heated and stretched more). Could be a different hose, but it definitely sounds like a bad/leaky hose somewhere.

Yea I Concur it sounds allot like a boost leak. But because I didn’t test-drive the car myself I would have to ask. Does the noise sound like it is coming from the engine bay or from the center consol? It could very well be the guide bearing, how does the shifting feel? Do you have a boost gauge? Can you watch the boost gauge and see if it is having a hard time climbing? If you could give us a little more I'm sure we can help. The sound clips give us a great bases to work with though.

To bring up something I saw on your picture, it looks like you are leaking something under your air filter. It could have just gotten wet before you took the picture (driving through a puddle or something) but it looks like there is some oil or coolant there. Not related to the sound but something I noticed. Does it look like that to anyone else??

Does it happen when you rev in neutral? Because it almost sounds like tranny whine (like it whines when you apply enough torque to the box)...but I'm still a Noob
