My new FD...(Pics & Info)
So after years and years of waiting, talking about it, and dreaming it,...THE Sports car has finally arrived. I had earlier and first intentions on a Skyline (At age 15 lol) then reality sunk in and I fell in love with Supra's. Then I realised I wanted a car that did EVERYTHING (handling too ya know, not just 800rwhp on stock block...) after owning a light and quick Mr2-Turbo plus a MKI MR2 NA (both 5spd).
After a year and change of visiting about 4-5 F/S forums/sites DAILY (yes, daily) I finally found the right Rx7. It had the right mods (or lack thereof), it was of the right year, type (Touring), owner (awesome guy that knows everything).
So anyways, here are the facts and info:
This car is David Breslau's old car (Worth mentioning..?)
Both him and the previous owner are on the "big list" and researched Rx7's since 93. Both took part in some engineering, know a lot of people (like those from Tri-Point) and have a love of autox, track, GT racing.
Officially stated: 1994 MBM Rx7 Touring with *Glass* sunroof. 57k original miles. 10-8-10 boost in cold/moist/hot/anything weather. Perfect compression tested at 54k, and 56,949 miles (Just recently!)
Mods are as follows:
Kirk Racing Roll cage (unfinished, no front bars) with 5 pt. harness's
Autometer Boost guage installed in steering column
J&S Knock Sensor (Pillar Mount)
SPA Digital Boost and Temperature Guage (Pillar mount)
Lightened Flywheel
Hawk Racing pads
2nd Set of Alloy Stock rims but with Victoracers (S02's on car now)
Strut Bar (Uninstalled)
Efini Emblems
Stock MudGuards (All four! My idea of a body kit, :P now installed)
Koni Adjustable Struts
Custom Rx7 Car cover
3 Oil Filters plus David's special synthetic Motul oil (Lots of it!)
Fuel Filter
Extra set of some hoses
Wiring/Electrical Diagram books (Huge) plus a huge manual
History of receipts
Black floor mats
Tri-Point High Flow Cat (MP)
Brand new ($1200, less than 1000 miles) DP (Still has a cat...)
M2 Dual Exhaust (Prrrrrr)
I also have stock OEM rotors, some extra panels because some were taken off/cut for the roll cage. Plus stock floor mats. Also some vinyl/leather conditioner and 3 stage wax kit. Extra set of keys, and some other stuff (he gave me a lot!)
Overall it was a good experience, buying this car. We shook hands on my first impressions and didn't even bother with a down payment (both of us pretty much forgot really lol). He knew I was serious, I knew he wasn't about to sell under me. He gave me so much stuff with the car, I might have missed some of it. He's very knowledgable and I trust his advice. We shared similiar taste on body mods (or a lack thereof, NO WING!) and power mods (again, lack thereof, the more stock the safer..plus the power is fine)
Nonetheless, here are some photo's:

Tail end. Love this shot. It's hard to notice the nice upwards slope of the middle section of the car (the middle brake light area) because the car is so low. Once you get down low enough (or laying down as in this case), you really see how the curves all work together to create something beautiful. Especially without a wing! Without the wing I feel the FD has more of an exotic look, all tight and one solid "piece of car" without any weird attachments.
Car is stock ride height btw. And credit go's to Ryan Wolfe in FL on my rear light modification!

Front end shot. I has aspirations to make the headlight still pop-up, but with 2 circle lights (Knightsports has a kit). However, I'd rather spend $800 on things like PFC, Intake etc and actually consider all the stock front end quite appealing in person. It really fits the whole "vibe" of the car.
And I love that it has the R1 front lip, I love the 99 JDM front end too, but again, that's money I could spend on other things. The USDM front with R1 lip is still beautiful (note some small cone scratch/marks :P )

And last, a quick shot of the roll cage, taken by a friends camera (note the quality difference lol). I didn't think it was a big deal, but apparently it's the best thing I have (mostly everyone has gone nuts about it...go figure) in the car.
And yes, my friend drove shotgun with the harness on (which is why its propped through the seat in that shot). He was a bit excited and just wanted to use it..lol

Yours is nice too! How/Where did you get those silver rings for your pillar guages, to match the stock guages. I love the little things in the Rx7 like that.
Which reminds me of my other thought: I love the littlest things about this car. How the stock bose is enough "sound" for me. The gauges, the way they have the rings. The pedal's look nice. The layout is awesome. Stock exterior and interior is beautiful. the rotary engine is so smooth. the turbo's come on quick and push you back. everytime I have to turn the wheel it feels awesome (even better than the light MKI MR2).
Also, do the efini emblems come WITHOUT a backing color? I was told they had to come in a certain color, and the ones I got have black backing. Looks like yours doesn't even have red backing...

hey thanks man, i dont really get that many compliments from other fd owners cause i guess mine is really stock looking.. o well..
but yeah, the efini emblems came with the car when i got it so i wouldnt know much about them..the silver trim on the gauges, i thought all aftermarket gauges come with it? i bought them a while ago and i had them on my previous car, i didnt really notice the silver trim, i thought all of them came like that..

Great car! I've met David some time back at a track event - VERY nice guy, and extremely knowledgeable.
I'm also about to fulfill the dream of owning a 3rd gen RX-7 - my goal is to have one for my birthday, October 3rd. Got plenty of car sellin' to do first - my '88 TII is for sale, then I gotta fix up the '90 convertible for sale.
Anyhow, to answer a question - the Efini badges only come with the colored backing as far as I know. If the black is annoying, you might be able to find a body shop that could paint the black part MBM, but that might be a tad tricky. Personally, I'm planning on the new winged M logo from the '99+ cars - that's just sharp looking.
Good luck with the car!

Think about all the aftermarket parts for this car...almost all of them simply "attach" to the car and look like some sort of leech sucking blood from the body of the car. Barely any of them flow, while some may just need to be "molded" in to work, but that in of itself is a lot of work/$$$.
I like your car a lot, ditch the wing...and I'll LOVE IT :P

I am from Orange County, NY. And yes, I know the Teutels :P. Took the daughter to the prom and if you told them my name they'd know who I was.
Not that I'm proud of it, I just get asked "OC like OC CHOPPERS?!?!?" all the time...

Yeah motivate senior with your size 13B!!
nice car. Very clean. And I have to agree with the no wing statement. I admit I used to like them (R1/2 type.) But after seeing one without in person( almost all the ones out here are r1's) I really like the center line you are talking about. Totaly conceled otherwise.

good job buddy I enjoyed reading this thread
94s are nice huh
keep it simple and enjoy!
BTW efini emblems come in many background colors but neither have worked for my fds because the emblems dont come in the custom red I had or montego blue.
Its real tricky to do this right and not get paint everywhere.. you wanna remove the old paint too first and theres a trick to make it peel off. If you want send me your emblems and I'll make them montego blue background. I have one white and one montego blue I think I like the white one its a little ricey which is cool since my car LOOKS stock haha

Thanks. I do plan on keeping it simple . Seems to me like any mod'ing I want to do requires 3 other mod's anyways (as far as manipulating boost by intake/exhaust airflow).
How much you gonna charge me to paint my emblems? If you mess up, you can polish my UIM or something Do you know where I can get silver rings for my pillar gauges?
Big Island Sevens: I'm glad you share the same insight! I can't believe the difference once you take off any wing on the rx7. It becomes a totally different type of look, and to me, its further away from the "Import Tuner/ Ricer" crowd and more towards a truly unique and exotic look. I love that tail curve!

Haha. I saw Paul Sr. recently but I was getting out of my DD Black Integra. DOH!
I wanted to go by the shop or on their road in hopes of having the FD pop up on the show. LOL That'd be cool. I saw the daughter at a wedding recently, she liked it. She's funny, she go's "OH MY GOODNESS wow, NICE CAR!" then a total 180 in enthusiasm: "eh...what is it?"
I took my car to get inspected yesterday and the mechanic was drooling over it. He couldn't believe how nice it was

the gauges come with those rings
I dont know if you can buy just the rings
yeah thats exactly right its tricky to mod the car right so just leave it. If you are going to do something I'd get a pettit ecu intake and downpipe. Thats how I had my first one for a while intake, dp, catback, pettit ecu @10psi and it was fairly quick. Yours with a highflow and 12psi would be really fast and very reliable.
the pfc is a headache with tuning and **** Id just get a pettit unlimited ecu its safe cheap and you just get in and drive
I wouldnt charge you to paint the emblems dude and if I mess up you can get another emblem. Id never polish a uim for free ever!! I hate even doing it for 200
