Hello!

Sounds like a great car.

Have you read up on these cars, regarding maintenance, tuning, etc?

Please, before you buy this car, have Tripoint perform a compression test on the engine. With all of those mods, if the car was not properly tuned and maintained, it may have some "issues".

Also, make sure you have the smog done (and get the cert) by the person you are buying from before you pay.

If you need a little help or info, read up on Lightning in a World of Thunder on some buying tips.

Also, if you are in the Irvine area and need some help, lemme know.

Good luck.

i would reccomend passing this car up. spend some more time doing some research, then see if the FD is the right car for you.

on a lil positive note for you fmic stands for front mount intercooler. as for the fd,fc the letters are used to identify what generation of RX-7 it is. The Fd is the 3rd gen, fc is the 2nd gen and so forth. The letters come form the manufacturer number(?) or the VIN number. here a site to help u git used to some other lingo thats tossed around

I have been lookin around @ these cars for months reading about them so on and so forth. It will be my second vehicle, my hobby. I have test driven it 1 time and it was amazing. Next step I am going to have it checked out @ tripoint. Then if all is ok buy it.

The reason for the warning is for the following reasons:

1. It's a turbo charged car.
2. It's a highly modified turbo charged car.
3. It's a highly modified turbo charged car with a rotory engine.

The RX-7 is a notoriousely finicky car. Excellent performance, and great looks. But a mechanical nightmare if not taken care of.
U should have one of two things going for u before purchasing this car. One, you are mechanically inclined and have a good set of wrenchs; or two, you have a good 5 Gs in reserve for breakdowns.
Being in Cali, u should have no problems finding a knowledgeable rotory mechanic, but they are not cheap.
This is not to scare u but to state some facts about 7 ownership. If u do get it, welcome to the family and rotor on dude.

Ok, common people, the guy came here for information, not flames or stupid people posting useless information. Nice way to show some hospitality, eh?

Just get the car checked out at Tripoint, as they know what they are doing there, I know. Get a compression test and a coolant system pressure test. If it is a 93 make sure that all of the TSBs have been performed, and that the suspension is in good working order, ie. no suspension clunking. If at all possible make sure you get all of the previous owners paperwork/receipts. And again, make sure you get the seller to smog the car and provide the smog certificate that says it has passed. That will give you 2 years to learn about the car before you have to "find" someone to smog it.

If this is your first sports car, great, just read as much information about these cars as possible.

Good luck.

Wink lmao @ the hospitality!!

Ok I am very mechanically inclined. I have a 1970 Bronco that I have put 20k in mods in it and all the work was done by my self(engine, tranny, front axle, rear axle, fuel injection, on board air compressor, and many more).
I am here to make new friends and connections and learn from the experts...... you guys, veteran RX7 owners. So far everything you guys have told , I already am aware of. I want a street machine.
My bronco will kick the crap out of almost any 4x4 out there. Now I want a sports car to do the same with and enjoy sunday drives in the mountains. 1 other thing....I would never buy a sports car with an auto tranny in it...roflmao. This car was never in e-bay either . $ 17k is the lowest he will go on the price. What do you guys think about that?
Oh yeah , when I test drove it there was the rear cluncking noise when hitting bumps. I understand it is a common problem for the 7, I have heard of this b4. What exaclty is the cause of it, and cure 4 it?

ATIHUN....I have family in Rancho Santa Margarita........We will have to hook up some time soon!!

17k is a good price if it includes all of those mods and the car/engine is in good condition.

The rear clunking comes from either the toe links being worn, or the numerous rear bushings in the suspension pieces, or a combination of both. New bushings and toe links are the solution; and a 20 ton press.

Well in that car, you definitely have a street machine. The only thing I didn't see listed was a decent radiator. Can't wait to see that monster 4by.

Later.

don't worry they're just jealous of your first 7 sounds like an *** kicker, what a way to start. you're old enough, can afford it, have done some homework, etc. good luck, have fun, try not to blow it up!

for sure get seller to smog it, their responsibility. might be a show stopper right there. smog tests can only get harder to pass in the future.

Mld>7, what mods do you have? If that is a single turbo, even if it is an auto, it would probably smoke your poser ***! If you are stock, my auto will too!
