My Introduction.

Hello everyone, My name is Jonathan however even my friends call me Phate so i don't mind that name. I am pursuing the idea of owning an RX7. I have started saving already, i plan on buying one in April for my birthday. lol.

I'm from Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Currently i take the bus, saves money and in Quebec its a bitch to get your license if your from another province. Took me 3 tries and a letter from the mayor of my burrow to finally get it. But like i said, for now it saves money to take the bus and i dont want to buy a crappy car anyway. RX7 FTW! lol.

Thought if I'm getting an RX7 i better start re-learning my mechanics now, especially since i have never worked on a rotary before. I'm mostly going to be reading your posts and asking questions, have sympathy for me lol. I haven't worked on a car since i completed my Mechanics courses.

Thought i would say hi, so hi.

Phate

Read the FAQ at the top of this forum, and you'll get the basics of the rotary and how maintain it. Welcome the rotary world.

working on a rotary isn't all that different than other cars. if anything, the mechanics are easier to work on due to less parts.

since u already have a mechanics background, you just need a jump start with some rotary exclusive info. which you can find all in the FAQ sticky like mentioned =)

good luck with ur find

Phate, what is your purpose of owning an rx-7? If it is to replace riding the bus and making it a daily driver, then your whole purpose of saving money by taking the bus is about to go flying out the window! Rx-7s are expensive and time-consuming to maintain, but if you can accept that fact and still want to go ahead with it, then climb aboard...i'll save you a seat.

Don't listen to everyone when they say they are expensive and time-consuming to maintain. If you buy a good car and treat it good it will treat you good... I DD my FD for 2 years I drove it conservatively not always smashing the throttle and it held up great.

When things go wrong on there car it can add up just like any other car and your more then likely fixing the previous owners mistakes and neglect they did to the car.

You have a Ranger as a backup so your fine, just make sure your buying a good car read the FAQ at the top of the thread that should have everything you need to know about owning one.
