My Hood Project

Just thought I'd post this up. Spring is almost here and that means my Rx-7 hobby can start getting geared up again. Right before winter set in I completed this project. I drove the car all of one time before letting it sit all winter and even that one time it was snowing. Well enjoy:

On his web site it says he bought it in 1998

I like the web site but you need to fix your frames, when i click on a bullet it displays the link in the little frame to the left of the screen.

11 years now. Yea, my site was kinda popular back in the day. Forums are king now though, which is totally cool.

Pretty cool. Fitment looks a little off near the front bumper though. Whats it like in real life?

Looks like you followed a similar path as Crispy:

Ha ha, looks like nobody reads what I wrote. Yea, the fitment was off on the front due to the previous owner hitting something. It was always a problem, even with the stock hood. I fixed it soon after these pictures though because the fitment did make it a bit worse. Looks good now.

Yes, Crispy is a friend of mine locally. His site is linked and talked about in my writeup. We even bought our hoods together in the same group buy and shared some materials. Before he did his I had many of the same ideas like the heat shielding. I'd say the biggest thing I copied was how Crispy attached his screen mesh. I probably would have glued it on if I didn't see that this worked so well.

No pics of the entire car with the hood yet.

Your site has great amount of information, however the lay out in my opinion should be redone as I had trouble navigating through your site for some reason. The icons on the left open their own window within that area making me only able to view the information through scrolling a million times to read it.

Guilty as charged. I quickly looked at the pics started reading and then got distracted by the pics again.

Both of you did a great job on that hood.

True true, the layout does need work. It was my first site design and now I do IT for a living. Not much motivation to do more web work on my off hours. But hey, at least you can navigate the site. Some people can't even do that due to the fphover class technology I used. :-)
