Is my engine a Reman? *pics inside*

i just pulled and stripped down the motor from my FD tonight

the engine came with the car.. i pulled it in order to rebuild it...

after pulling off the accessories i was shocked to find this badge.. which i haven't seen on any other Rotoary motor i've dealt with (1 13b 2 13bt's 1 13b-REW and 1 13b-RE)

i've noticed that the front cover.. as well as the housings have been painted silver..

for those who are visually impaired:

Model Number:
J-N3A1-52
Serial Number:
JA-1831 06/99

and scribbled in marker is R24-F14 which was obviously written while the motor was still a shortblock

the last 4 digits make me think it was manufactured in the 6th month of 1999

what do you guys think?

yes, check out the stamps on the front and rear rotor housings ontop. see if has one stamp or has been double stamped. if my memory serves me correct the stamp in the housing says F and R.

The Reman in my car says "REMAN" or "Remanufacutred" (cant remember which) above the serial number.

Yes the blue tag alone is enough to tell you it was a reman. or a front cover off of one lol

nope.. my car was imported to norway this winter fra us.. so its not a reman bought i norway

but yes parts in norway are expensive:
Main (internal) Gasket Set* $415.00 from mazda malloy
From a local mazda dealer: $1 161,08 ...

Wow, it's clear that you have no other choice but to move to the US...and bring some cute Norwegian girls too!

No, it's not necissarily bad. Just you don't know who rebuilt it. If I remember correctly Mazda used to contract Pineapple racing to do some of their remans. But that's not a guarantee that you'll get a Pineapple rebuilt engine when you order a reman.

local mazda stealership, you mean? Go with Malloy. I've heard that the guy there is excellent to deal with. good luck with the rebuild. post pictures. why do you have to rebuild it?
