Is there any reason why you put blow off valve after the intercooler rather than before?

just put in my power fc so ill post air/water temps in a few, i had a mesh srcreen in front of the rad/oil coolers but i didnt like they way it looked so i took it off i have been running the like this since last october and there is only a few bugs and leaves, i put the bov after the intercooler because its closer to the TB but i dont think it makes a that much of a differance, just put in my greddy elbow and now the intercooler piping looks complete no more plastic!

Kinetik, thats a nice setup your running there, the fabrication is quality.

The only reason i asked about the BOV being after the intercooler is this,

Obviously the intercooler removes heat energy from the intake air, what your doing there with the BOV after it removes the cooled air. If you place it before the intercooler you reduce the amount of air the intercooler has to cool, increasing its efficiency and hence lower charge temps. You could test this and see, but im positive you would notice the difference which could be considerable.

Also, along with this the pressure drop across the core would be less (when the bov is open) because it has to flow less air, which means less air velocity. Pressure drop is proportional to the square of veloctiy. This increases charge density and hence more fuel can be injected increasing power.

Its up to you but i thought i would give you some tips. The pressure signal for the bov is still in the same place, just the bov isnt. Also the bov is closer to the turbo which will help reduce surge by related transport delays.

sorry to bring back from the dead, but i look at this thing just about every week, but how did you route your radiator hoses from all the way under there? and any updates on intake temps and coolant temps?

lol, ill post pics of the radiator hoses soon i just have to resize them on my other computer, as for the water temp street driving, freeway and WOT is water temp is at 180F and at idle its at 180F for about 10mins then rises to 192F where the fans kick on (RX7RAGE set my fans with the DL for 89C), i cant remember my intake temps but will post on friday when i have the car put back together.

if you like fabricating its not hard but its as time consuming as you make it when you talk about detail, the v-mount that chuck sells is his own kit.

Being an aluminum fabricator on the side (I build All aluminum airplanes as a side hobby) I must say something:


NICE!!!

BTW, I really like the adjustable splitter. Have you done any comparitive tests with the splitter in the different positions?

Gives me some ideas on different uses. adjust it to have more radiator flow on short, slow speed courses like autocrossing. have it more balanced for daily driving or freeway driving. These are just assumptions off the top of my head, so I don't know which would work more in actual use.

thanks, haven't done any test with the splitter because i was not going to adjust it unless i had water temp issues but thats a good idea i could test when im done with other projects im working on.

we think alike just reading the bottom of you post gave me a idea witch i have to try tomorrow and post here.
