My (cheap) tow hook

eBay universal rear tow hook $24.98+$8 shipping
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...m=220629283767

two M10x1.5 bolts $1
two M10 washers $0.50

Found two existing holes in the frame next to where the stock passenger side tie down hook is located

basically I bolted the outermost hole into place, then drilled a hole into the tow hook for the second bolt.

Clears everything (unless you have the oem fog lights)

total cost: <$35

How are you going to mount the hook without ruining your bumper, there is barely any space on top...

shrugs, small recovery strap? ha ha, I haven't thought that far ahead, I just know that if I try to tow my car from underneath my bumper on those two tie down hooks, I'll likely cause way more damage than this :P

^ ... so would a not-so-cheap tow hook possibly prevent "any" damage when installed correctly? maybe worth the extra coin?

Actually I've been trying to find exactly that but without much luck.

this non-FD from RennenMetal requires you to cut the stock bumper, no thx

this one is from FEED, costs 272.23 (front and rear) and requires cutting of stock bumper, no thx

another picture

This one is also from RennenMetal and costs $90, is out of stock, and you have to grind away the corner edges of your A/C condenser, and enlarge the slotted hole

another picture on a stock bumper

I'd love for a slightly more expensive but perfectly fitting tow hook, but I've yet to find one so for now, my $25 ebay special with a recovery strap will just have to do. Knock on wood I won't have to use it....

He can put all the top shelf ***** in front of that car he wants... seems to me that that design is useless. You're depending on the shear strength of one M6 bolt that acts as the pin in the hinge. A couple good yanks and it's over.

The tow hook that is on the car with the White bumper is mine, it is not from renmetal, those are genuine Feed Tow hooks, I had those when I had the stock bumper and it did not hit it.

I THOUGHT that was high! i just googled this site

http://www.priceme.co.nz/FEED-F-R-Tr...883157423.aspx

I see now that they went for a lot cheaper during the group buy

strange that some people have installed the feed hook with no issues, yet there are still a bunch of people who have had to cut slits in their bumpers to accommodate them :S

any reason why?

here's another feed hook where it did fit (though it will probably leave a scratch on the bumper

and here's a thread where the OP said it didn't fit

you should probably talk to rennenmetal about it then because your picture is being used on their site (in the pdf)

Well they are also copying the FEED Design so maybe that is the more important issue.
