are you stock? if so, its probably you're pre-cat burning all the heat into the cabin (right underneath your passenger's feet!) replace it with a downpipe. if its still too hot, wrap the downpipe in heat shield cloth tape. i got a roll of it at JEGS and it works great!

Try replacing the precat. its also considered a reliability mod. The precat is near the passanger footwell, and gets very very hot. This is probabily the cause of your hot rides.

i'm not sure how strict the emissions in IL are cause I don't live there anymore, but you could probably get away with a downpipe and a highflow cat. when i lived there, they didn't do visual inspections, so you should be okay with the dp. of course, if you really wanted a mp (be careful with boost creep!), you could always keep your pre and main cat and install them on the day of your emissions testing and rip them off that night. you'd only have to do it once every two years.

yeah a MP isnt necessary. Go for the DP & hi-flow CAT. I have the same heat problem, and i know its because of the pre-cat.

well, I'm putting my DP on and I'm gettin it wrapped first with the special heat spray that goes on over the wrap. Handles up to 2000 degrees and will keep it much cooler than usual.
