My blown FD engine

Bought my FD with a goosed engine and took it apart the other day to see the damage. Not good by the looks of it so on the look out for a complete new engine to rebuild and slot back in.

Heres some pics, could it be any worse LOL

One housing

The other

One of the rotors

And the other

****, it would be cheaper to get a reman and have that rebuilt. At least you would get 2 new rotor housings and rotors in decent shape.

That motor is trashed. The only worse one I have seen was a motor of my friend Ihor's that broke with 3mm seals after a tuner gave him negative split at 7000 rpms and 10 psi. The motor didnt like that too much.....

yea got the car really cheap, thats why I bought it. 500bhp here we come with the new engine.

The rotors and housings are really bad as you can see but each side of the rotor is the same, scored badly.

New engine on its way.

i didn't think it was that bad *shrug*, seen dented rotors and housings with gouges about 4mm deep, i'm surprised that housing took it so well after seeing the rotor. they are both junk still but may as well chrome plate them and hang them on your wall.

I'm going to keep the engine for the future for a laugh, When I took the motor apart the apex seals fell on the floor in about 10 bits.

The end plates dont have a mark on them funny enough!!!

they usually don't, most of the force is exterted towards the rotor housings so all of that anger is imbedded into them and not the irons.

I took apart Surgemonsters blown engine about 6 weeks ago. He overboosted it and broke 5 of the 6 apex seals. 3 of the 12 side seals were pinched and couldnt be removed without breaking them. Both rotors were destroyed and even the end irons were unusable. I should have taken pics because the housings were destroyed...

It is an amazing engine but when things go bad it can turn into a pile of crap really quick...

The lad I bought the car off ran far too much boost and all the apex seals are scrap, the side seals were still there but broke into little bits.

He just kept turning the boost up till it went pop

Haha! Think o type a. Gotta pay more attention when your fingers get used to the same old pattern.

Bucky, are you getting an entirely fresh (rebuilt or otherwise running) engine or are you going to peice together what is salvagable from this?

Getting an engine from the scrap yard, its from a 1995 JDM.
The guy said it smoked a bit but its half the price other places have been quoting me for used engines and I plan to rebuild it in the next 2-3 months anyway and go for big power.

Some places were asking around $4000 for an engine that I didn't know the history so got this one for around $1700 and since I am going to rebuild it like I say makes sense.

The only parts I can use on mine are the irons and since I bought the car with the engine already taken out some of the parts from the engine bay are missing and the guy is giving me them for nothing which is a great help. Also the dick cut the engine loom so getting a new one aswell.
