sorry I thought i put 115/month, not 1115, I saw 115, maybe i was drugged (taking medicine on a bad *** cold) Haha, but yeah, my insurance is pretty cheap. And yes, puttin money on the car is like addictive. Bought the car 3 months ago, already spent over 3.5 overall upgrades/maintainence. But hell, i love this car =D, been waitn to get it since i was 15 !!!
i got my fd when i turned 16, i worked 2 years to pay for it. Paid 13k for it with 43k miles, im almost 18 and never been in an accident, no tickets, and never put a scratch on the car. I think that has alot of it to do with it, as I know how hard i worked for it and wouldnt want anything bad to ever happen to it. I hear a lot of good things about that turbo, 2 year warranty and super quick spool up. I think the kit was $2700 installed, from davinci. Anyways good luck with the car, IMO you need some new wheels asap, as you are going to need a lot more traction. Im ordering work termist tm1 soons in 18x9 and 18x10 so goodluck and be careful.
I wanna know what kind of jobs people are getting to be able to pay for a FD at 16 and 17, I'm 19 and bought a FD and pay for it myself (luckly I have a decent job =p), but seriously, how much do you get paid at 16? I was making minimum wage trying to afford a used neon.
Bought my FD at 21 for 13.9, had 59k miles on it, put 1400 down pay 292 a month on it, and my insurance is 315 a month (few tickets). All payed for by me, and now I support myself and my girlfriend, and still pay for the car. Needless to say, its only slightly above stock. Oh yeah, I do all my own work on it too.
Good luck to you, you're going to need it. Please read the following ADVICE carefully, with an open mind. I'm not saying any of this to offend you, I just want to pass along a few things that I learned (sometimes the hard way) when I was your age.
My opinion is that teens shouldn't drive FD's. They're not a good learner's car. If you haven't already learned to drive well in an underpowered car with decent handling, you will NOT develop good car-control skills in an overpowered car with very good handling. The handling limits of the FD are so high that you won't be able to recover once you've found them.
Whether you can admit it or not, teens simply lack the experience (which develops the necessary skills and judgement) required to pilot something with the power-to-weight-ratio of an FD. There are many things that can ONLY be learned from experience, and driving is one of them. It's a physical skill like running or playing basketball; you can't get better at driving just by thinking about it or trying to be careful.
What's more, mistakes, accidents, or lapses of judgement can be expensive or fatal in a car, and a high-powered car will cause everything to be happening at much faster speeds, which leaves less room for inexperience.
Since you already own the car, you're going to need to learn quickly. Attend a race-driving school, it will teach you how to properly control your car. Start autocrossing, it's a very safe place to learn car control. Expect to spin out a lot, but be glad you'll be hitting cones and not guardrails.
Here are a few examples, all from the past year. Don't become another stastic.

I saw an fd for the first time when I was like 18, I was working 3 jobs(total of 60hours a week), and was a senior in HS(full schedule of classes). I bought my FD in cash after 3.5months. I <3 no car payments! Oh an btw, I've been paying 500bucks a month in rent to my parents since I was 16(I know it was illegal for them to do it, but I couldnt do **** about it!) I still find it crazy that a 17 year old has a single turbo fd, thats alot of power to handle, I dont reccomend driving it in the rain, you'll be doing 360's all day loooong!
